I know that even what "studies" have "concluded" can often be hear say, but from what I'v heard studies have concluded lol, that marijuana has no effect on hormone levels in the body. Apparently it's simply a rumour that it affects testosterone levels and such, something that has been beleived for decades. Having said this I can't see how you'd have any problems, but I'm no doctor. I would honestly ask my doctor if I were you. He has a confidentiality thing anyway and your better safe then sorry. . .Sure you'll get a lecture, but meh. . .

Matt

Russo E; Mathre ML; Byrne A; Velin R; Bach PJ; Sanchez-Ramos J; Kirlin KA; "Chronic cannabis use in the compassionate investigational new drug program: an examination of benefits and adverse effects of legal clinical cannabis." Journal of Cannabis Therapeutics. 2002; 2(1): 3-57
Quote:
The aim of this study is to examine the overall health status of 4 of the 7 surviving patients in the program. This project provides the first opportunity to scrutinize the long-term effects of cannabis on patients who have used a known dosage of a standardized, heat-sterilized quality-controlled supply of low-grade marijuana for I I to 27 years.
Results demonstrate clinical effectiveness in these patients in treating glaucoma, chronic musculoskeletal pain, spasm and nausea, and spasticity of multiple sclerosis. All 4 patients are stable with respect to their chronic conditions, and are taking many fewer standard pharmaceuticals than previously.
Mild changes in pulmonary function were observed in 2 patients, while no functionally significant attributable sequelae were noted in any other physiological system examined in the study, which included: MRI scans of the brain, pulmonary function tests, chest X-ray, neuropsychological tests, hormone and immunological assays, electroencephalography, P300 testing, history, and neurological clinical examination.
In other words, these folks found that chronic, mild cannabis use for health reasons does not affect hormone levels.

very well said teufelfisch, it's like it explains how it is less damaging than alcohol, if damaging at all!

Effects of cannabinoids on testosterone and protein synthesis in rat testis Leydig cells in vitro.

Jakubovic A, McGeer EG, McGeer PL.

Various water-insoluble cannabinoids as well as SP-111A, the water-soluble derivative of delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta 9-THC), reduced hCG and dibutyryl-cAMP stimulated testosterone production by rat testicular Leydig cell preparations. With 0.15 microM (0.05 micrograms/ml) 8-beta-OH-delta 9-THC the inhibition was about 50% of stimulated testosterone synthesis. Dose-related inhibitions were apparent with other cannabinoids and their order of potency in inhibiting stimulated steroidogenesis by the interstitial cells in vitro was found to be: 8-beta-OH-delta 9-THC greater than or equal to 11-OH-delta 9-THC greater than CBN = CBD = CBG greater than or equal delta 9-THC = delta 8-THC. The non-stimulated, basal, steroidogenesis was not affected even with 15 microM cannabinoids. The incorporation of L-[U-14C]leucine into the protein of Leydig cells was markedly reduced by 15 microM cannabinoids under both basal and stimulated conditions. The inhibition of steroidogenesis as well as protein synthesis in rat testicular Leydig cell preparations by various cannabinoids cannot be correlated with their psychoactivity. The present data suggest that cannabinoids at very low concentrations may interfere directly in Leydig cells with both protein and testosterone synthesis, and thus with their function
Basically the study says cannabis may interfere with protein and testosterone synthesis, however the interference is not abnormal, or falling below average levels.
