Amusing hehe. Didn't realise it could ease period pains. Next time I'm getting stick from a girl who's bleeding, I'll just say "smoke this my female compadre and chill"

The fainting thing actually happened to me today - I found this forum trying to find out why.

My case was a bit different - I hadn't smoked in weeks, and only did half a dime, but about 15 minutes into the high I passed out and apparently went all tense for 10 seconds. I think it was a sensory overload, since I was in a mall with voices all around, and neither me nor my family has any history of medical problems that could cause this, so I was wondering what could.

I have decent sugar levels, but my blood pressure could probably be higher, and i didn't get much sleep this week - could that be the problem?

Fresh air and a drink helped me out, though it almost happened again later, when I went to the theatre.

Just yesterday, i was wih a group of my friends and we were able to get some weed. It was one of my friends first time, so i decided i would do the honor of smoking him out, so for his first time i had him smoke out of a pipe. we finished about a bowl when my other friends came to us with a blunt, and i decided to smoke some more... after the 3rd rotation i started feeling like my chest started tighting and my breathing was harder, my nose of numb and i started blacking out... i said i didn't feel well and tried to get up but i collapse... i tried to get back in the house but i kept collapsing, blacking out and fainting and then coming back to normal. when i finally got in the house i fainted and was unconscious for a second, then went to lay in bed. my friends came in and freaked out cuz my face was pale, and i knocked out for a few minutes. i woke up and ate some, and for the next hour i tried to gain control, which was in and out. this has happened to me a couple of time, i was wondering why is? i smoke cigarettes and take birth control, are these factors? do i have anxiety?

this has also happened to me a couple times, my face also goes very pale, and i guess my lips were blue too. in my experience everything goes white, i break out in a cold sweat, my ears ring and then i pass out. i also smoke cigarettes and am on birth control, it must have to do with blook flow to the brain, but i'm wondering what exactly? why does this only happen to a seeminly rare number, as ive never met anyone with the same symptoms. im only fine when i smoke very small amounts.

That sounds like an extreme anxiety reaction, verging on shock.

yeah i think you may have some anxiety that only comes out when you smoke.
like when theres alot of other people around, i get nervous and lightheaded, like at the mall

My first time I smoked five hits out of a piece and after about ten minutes passed out. After that I've been smoking only a little here and there and never getting "stoned" per se, just high. Last night I took two hits from a piece (my second time using a piece) and I started to feel myself blacking out again in my chair (and trying to fight it by running my hand through my hair and talking to people, but I wasn't doing a very good job). I wisely decided to lay down on the floor and then I was fine.

I happen to have low blood pressure and I realize that Marijuana causes blood pressure to lower. Should I be concerned (as in never try to get really stoned) or is laying on the floor (to help with circulation) a good idea? So I suppose I'm a fainter when I get stoned, laying down really helps me (and as for anxiety, it sure increases me anxiety when I feel I'm blacking out); luckily the music I had on was pretty nice and ethereal so after a while I felt okay. When I could feel my face feel numb and tingly and the breath coming out of my nose was a bit cold. Any attack I was having I was able to pull myself out of though.

I was concerned that it might be messing with my ashma medications (Advair, Singulair) but I don't think so. (As I haven't been on those for a month now and I just started up a few days ago and this is the first it's happened. Also I haven't gotten stoned since the summer)

I usually have a dream right before fainting (known in cases of strong g-forces, pilots will have a 3 second dream when they pass out if the blood isn't getting to their head) haha. My first time I was walking out of a pizza hut and I was falling backwards and all the pizza sauce from the breadsticks was getting on my shirt heh

I might also add that I'm susceptible to passing out if I've been in a hot tub for too long (so if you are a fainter, keep that in mind in general and never smoke before getting in a hot tub) which is a mix of dehydration and low blood pressure.

Do you faint at home at all?

If not I would definately say its anxiety amplified from marijuana use as buzzby pointed out.

If you also faint at home, what is the fainting spell like?

Is it just that you start to black out and need to hold onto something when you stand up, or;

Do you feel slightly nauseated, and things slowly start to black out and, you start to become fearful, and you can't hear or see anything, but once you sit down everything comes back?

If it is the second, it can be a very scary experience, it is called a vaso-vagal reaction. It can be triggered by a neurological misfire, where the wrong neuron fires at the wrong time, which dialates the blood vessels in the lower half of your body, causing blood to rush from your brain to your legs and abdomin, causing a very intense seemingly random black-out. This has only happened to me once, just a few weeks ago actually and was a very scary experience. It happened during the middle of a 5 day illness, during which time I vaped marijuana during the day to help me sleep a lot to get better. I usually vape .1 grams once a day at night to help me sleep and help with my IBS, but during the period I was sick, I vaped maybe 3-5 times a day so I could sleep for about 18 hours a day. Although that still isn't a lot of cannabis .5 grams in a day, it wouldn't surprise me if Marijuana had something to do with the response considering it is a vaso-dialator.

I would venture to say it is probably mostly anxiety though.

This is a vaso-vagal response. Could be a neurological disorder if it happens often. I would definately get this checked out.

Well, I'll take your input with a grain of salt. I'm pretty convinced my blood pressure has a lot to do with it (as I've blacked out before, this isn't a special case).

Okay, Monday I had just smoked two hits (yes that's right, only two) out of a pipe. I actually had burnt my cheek slightly with my lighter because the flame got too close to my thumb and I reflexively pulled back. So I started to feel the effects coming on and already knew I had to put some ice on it, but I don't really think that was a cause of anxiety.

I was sitting in my chair but I could already feel it (the light headed-ness). I can't really tell you exactly when I became aware of it or what sensation brought it on, but I can tell you that I was trying to keep conversations going and trying to keep myself moving once I became aware that it was occuring. It was like my vision was being perferated by blackness and I laid down. I even convinced myself to calm down and just let it happen (the fainting spell) but that felt uncomfortable so I laid down. Laying down for about 15 minutes I felt better and I enjoyed the high.

My first time experiencing a fainting spell I actually fainted. I was sitting on my friend's bed next to the air conditioner and suddenly it was like I could feel the cold spreading through my body. I could feel pins and needles all over and I don't remember saying it, but evidently I said "I'm going to pass out." Everything just seemed to fade to black. My friend turned around to see me slip off the bed and land on my butt. I was disoriented after that, I had a short dream about pizza sauce, he picked me and I remember when he lifted me up I slipped out of consciousness again and then he was talking to me.

Eventually he said I'd be okay if I just slept it off. So he tucked me in (which actually I remember finding hilarious at the time) and I started to get concerned about passing out again (and worrying that I might go into a coma. It was my first time.) so I started to try to keep myself awake and then after a little while I was fine.

The fainting sensation only comes with the onset of the high, and only occurs when I get stoned, not high. And when else have I blacked out? Only one other time in my life, after a concussion. I was on the verge of passing out during my extended two hour hot tub experience (the warnings are real, believe me), and had the sense to lay down. So do I pass out at home often? No, not at all. Not ever. My first time I wasn't at home, the second instance when I was alone, I was at home, and I felt pretty comfortable and safe.

So are you saying this is anxiety or just physical? I would say no, it isn't a neurological disorder. I just need to lay down to keep the circulation going better if I smoke enough to give me such a reaction, and keep in mind my blood pressure. It's probably also a good idea for me to drink a gaterade beforehand. But I don't think this is exactly pointing to something that needs to be confirmed by a doctor.
