| Greetings, About two years ago is when I first started smoking marijuana. For about the first 10 months, me and my roommate, also my best friend at the time, would smoke about 3 big fatties every night. At the time it was awesome, the first couple of months we would just sit at the kitchen table and laugh and laugh and laugh...at God knows what. After a couple of months we got cable though and that kinda ruined our talking and laughing at nonsense, not that it stopped, but it just wasnt like it was before cable. (Which really sux, shows you that television is just something that corporate america uses to control the masses. Saying spend your money on this, spend your money on that. Dont have money? Go work 40 hours a week, then come and spend your money on this and on that.) Ouch sorry, some serious ranting. I'll try and get to the point.. Anyway, marijuana I believe really expanded my awareness, or more..it sent me on a spiritual journey. I moved back in with my parents and started searching for God. This search was more like a research into religion. Anyway, I found my path, and on this path I have started meditation, yoga, metaphysics and such things. But after these things smoking is like a complete different experience. I admit because of my search, I do see the world differently. And i suppose this has come into my smoking sessions. When I smoke now, I seem to withdraw my senses, withdraw myself into my self. It's kinda hard to explain, but I dont hear anything, I dont see anything. It's like when people say "in the world, but not of it." I dont even respond to my name, or someone could be talking to me and unless they got my attention first, I wont have heard a word they said. This has changed my relationship with my previous roommates as they dont see me as the same person, the person that used to make them roll on the floor laughing. I dont necessarily want to be that person, but I was just wandering if anyone else experiences anything like this. Thanks for all your time, Tyler |

| Holy sadhus in India have been using marijuana this way for thousands of years. You can turn on your senses or turn off your senses. It all depends on where you focus your attention.

| I myself experienced a new found interest in religion, the purpose of life and many other deep and strange things. It has changed me to some extent but I'm glad I think of this now instead of just letting my years pass on without being aware of how precious they really are. Smokings made me happier in many respects, I'm sitting at the key board right now typing and I'm very contented with everything. I have to say though, I wouldnt tune out on your friends. Don't completely lose yourself or you may fall into the wrong situation. One which may be a depressing trap or something bad, especially for a smoker.

| Yes, I have seen somewhere that they indeed do use canabbis as an entheogen. I am very glad that you have reminded me of this Buzzby, thank you. My path, actually, is pointed towards becoming a sadhu. I am in the process of studying, and when I feel that I am ready then I will seek entrance to a monastary. With love and blessings, Tyler |

| What you have said makes me curious. I've never conversed with anyone who had decided on becoming a monk and then a sadhu. When you say you found your path is that a specific guru, a religion, or a path-of-your-own-invention? Do you plan on being a wandering mendicant in India, the USA, or somewhere else? I don't have the will to do that. I like to goof off a lot, be a slob. It seems to me that people who pursue enlightenment never get any time off. |

| You know your stuff Buzzby! Forgive me, I should not have used the word sadhu, as I will not be a wandering mendicant. The path I follow is Saiva Siddhanta, whose doctrine is monistic theism (Advaita Isvaravada). My satguru is Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, also known as Gurudeva. Gurudeva is watching his devotees from the inner worlds, as he passed away in 2001, but before doing so ordained Bodhinatha Veylanswami as his successor. Gurudeva has written many books, including his greatest works, The Master Course trilogy, making up Hinduism's Contemporary Catcheism, Hinduism's Contemporary Culture, and Hinduism's Contemporary Metaphysics. These three books speak from Saiva Siddhantas' stance, but also conveys general dharma which speaks for all four major denominations of Hinduism. I personally, am still studying the Mastercourse and do not fill that I have learned enough to become a monk as of yet. I still have much to learn. But when I am ready, which will be within the next few months, I will journey to Kauai's Hindu Monastary, where Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami set up his ashram in 1970. You can learn much about the monastary, and the temple that is under construction at www.himalayanacademy.com . The three books of the Mastercourse are Dancing, Living, and Merging with Siva. You can find two of those as online books on the website. After 8-12 years of service as a cenobitic monk, you are able to take vows of a sannyasin, all while studying kundalini yoga, being a yogi. I feel that this post isnt big enough to represent anything of the Saiva Siddhanta Church, but I also dont want to overload anyone with information. Thanks for all your time, Tyler |
