Default Have I messed up my brain for good?

Hey guys. I'm a light smoker (usually only on the weekends or school vacations), and I've had a very scary experience. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this happening or anything.

Last Friday, I was hanging out with my friend and we were just chilling and smoking. I felt fine for a couple of hours and a few blunts, then we smoked a joint and I took a shotgun. 10 minutes later I started feeling weird and my vision was like a stobe light. I was talking normal, but I wasn't remembering what I was saying. I got up to get a drink of water and I got really weak and I just collapsed and I hit my head on his stove. I immediately went to bed because I was kind of scared.

Saturday I went out of town. I felt fine all morning, but while in the car I noticed effects of the previous night coming back. When I'd lay my head against the headrest it'd take a second for the feeling to register. When I was talking to people I wasn't completely sure of what I was saying. Sunday I just laid around the house and felt fine, so I figured I'd just had one of those "hangovers" I'd heard about.

Monday I went to school, and the feeling came back. I was worried I'd suffered a concussion, so I called my mom and had her take me to the hospital. I had a catscan, and the doctors told me my brain was perfectly fine. Until Thursday, the effects had been coming and going. On Thursday, my brain felt fine, and I wasnt confused about what I was saying, but my body felt weird, like I was on cough medicine or something. About 2 PM yesterday, the effects came back out of nowhere.

Today I feel fine, but my body's a little weird, like yesterday. My friend I smoked with didn't have any effects, so I don't think it was laced. I've heard about people getting really high and feeling like they have a hang over for about 7-10 days. Is this just the case or should I consider seeing a neurologist? There are several doctors in my family and they say if nothing shows up on a catscan then there's nothing wrong with my brain.

I've decided to quit. As much fun as it is, I don't think it's worth it.

The effects you describe from when you were smoking are all normal features of a marijuana intoxication. You probably just got a bigger dose than you're used to. The passing out when you stood up is call "postural hypotension". Marijuana lowers your blood pressure. Normally when you stand up there's a second or two of low blood pressure that can make you dizzy. Because is was low to start with you blacked out.

Personally, I've never experienced more than a day of "hangover".

The rest of it I'd attribute to being worried about the situation. You're experiencing anxiety and your symptoms are consistent with that. There's nothing wrong with your brain that wasn't wrong before you smoked. Marijuana does not damage people's brains.

If you do decide to smoke again, be careful to do it in a safe place, with good friends, and in a positive state of mind. These anxieties tend to come back and whop you upside the head when you get high.

If you want to read the stories of dozens of other people with similar experiences, look here.

Yeah, smoke less, more often. That sorta sounds like what I felt like when I first started smoking. Once your tolerance builds up a little bit, the effects won't be as intense.

Thanks for the quick, insightful replies! Maybe I'll just take a couple weeks off. I'm pretty relieved now.

Each person's experience differs, depending a lot on how sensitive you are to your mind-body changes. Because I hardly ever drink, I can take 1 shot and feel it moments later. Whereas my friends who get drunk of their asses regularly need at least 3 shots before they "feel" anything.

First time I got "stoned" I completely spaced and starting tripping off lights and time "skipping" several minutes at a time. I noticed effects for weeks afterwards. I long for those days again, but now I can smoke a lot and still function fairly well. Don't be worried about brain damage, the only harm will be to your lungs.

Weed is about the safest and one of the only safe drugs. Brain-wise it's better for you than alcohol. But I'm probably preaching to the choir now, so I'll shutup.

I think you smoked too much at one time for a lightweight, a few blunts, a few joints and a few shotties are a lil much for a school vac smoker, just smoke two joints and chill

Talking Wowlet Megetsomeofthats**t

Well your ok. like with any drug or alcohol if ya do to much to quickly theres gonna usually be some undesireable or "scary" effects. Sounds like you were doin alot of tokin in a small amount of time. My suggestion is (and especially if you dont smoke often like you stated) SLOW DOWN when you do smoke. Smoke just to get high not to get stupid high. Besides like with anything else (i.e. Alcohol, medications, etc.) your body can only handle so much before it decides to give ya a good kick in the ass back to reality. know your limitations. And as with alcohol Wacky weed "hangovers" are a common thing escpecially if you got good s**t or ya havent smoked for awhile. LATE
