| I'm a paraplegic in almost constant pain. The pain is neuretic, in areas where I have no sensation (except the pain), and nothing seems to help. I've read that marijuana has helped in these situations but my doctors just say it won't work. I've lived a pretty straight life and wouldn't even know where to look for marijuana. Plus, I don't want to get ripped off. Anyone have any suggestions. |

| Yes... My first suggestion is to read about other folks' experience and decide if this is something you wish to try. Lookk through the Threads (list of messages) under the Helath & Medicine section where you have posted this message. If you do decide to try marijuana I suggest you may contact the Marijuana Policy Project in your state and become involved in the movement to get Cannabis/Marijuana legalized for medical purposes You may want to take a trip to a location where cannabis is plentiful and can be located easily -- such as Amsterdam, Vancouver and Jamaica where, on vacation in a quiet and calm setting you can try this medication in a small amount and see how you personally respond Many people find cannabis very effective to treat otherwise unresponsive pain and neuropathic problems. You may find that you are one of them. Good luck Mama Budz | |

| Thanks for the advice Mamabudz (btw love the icon ) but it doesn't really help my situation. I'm in Virginia and medical use marijuana is already legal but, as I undertand it, doctors can't prescribe it because of federal law. Traveling to another country is not within my financial means, except DC (which is like a whole other country). I did a search on pain on this forum but did not find anything useful. From what I've read in other places and what you just wrote, I want to try it but where does a guy like me go? An arrest for anything could cost me my job and most of my friends haven't touched the stuff since the 70's. It sucks being old and out-of-touch. ![]() |

| It can be difficult to try to "score" from some high school kid when you are in your 40's...it just doesn't feel right That's why I reccomend getting involved with your local medical marijuana or MAP group -- let me do a quick search on Yahoo and see who is doing what in Virginia.... I think the American Allianc for Medical Cannabis may be able to assist you in at least locating a doctor who is willing to prescribe there website is: http://www.letfreedomgrow.com/ My next suggestion is to check out our sister site on this network www.Hempcultivation.com You will have to resign in as it is a separate server. Growing may be the best method for you to have the type variety and quality of pot you need with a constant supply. Hugz, Mama Budz | |
