Question Weird panic attacks, how to cope with it?

I've gotten 4 weird panic attacks so far or maybe not even panic attacks? (hope there's no more to come):

1) I smoked a large amount and took alot of shoties on my 5th time smoking and I started feeling pain througout my body, so I took a walk alone and I hallucinated thinking theres pitbull's and roti's following me and barking at me from a far distance and I ran down the block and looked back and there was nothing there... I went to sleep feeling some pain throughout my body and the next morning I had a huge hangover for about 1 1/2 days... I didn't touch a blunt for months after that.

2) Started smoking again and my highs were good and then I smoked very strong purple haze but only took about 6 decent pulls (knowing it was strong) out of a 20 piece (1 gram) blunt and held it in for as long as I could . At first I was fine I just couldn't sit in on place and then it hit me about 20 minutes later. My heart started pounding, I started breathing heavely, my head started spinning, I felt like I was about to vomit, I was sweating non stop on my forehead, I got cold, my face was as pale as it can get, I was looking at my friends talk but couldn't hear them till about 5-10 seconds later, I practically went through hell until I left the house and went into my friends car and fell asleep for an hour. When I woke up I was just little burned for about another hour but I was fine.

3) Started smoking dro and lower quality cannabis so I wouldn't go through the same senario again, I was fine for about a month but I just wasnt getting those great highs, so one day me and a friend got a 20 piece of uptown dro with a great scent and went on the roof of his house and I smoke about half of it and about 5 minutes after my last pull, my head started spinning, I felt pain and cramps throghout my body, felt like I was going to vomit, got a headace, started beathing heavely, felt like I had a high temerature - got very hot and uncomfortable but wasn't sweating much. It all passed after about 1 1/2 hours of living hell.

4) 2 months later of not having any panic attacks from after #3 and buliding my confidence thinking I'll never have another panic attack again. I just recently was with 4 friends and we rolled 2 blunts one was a 20 piece (1 gram) of the same strong purple haze as I smoked in #2 and another was a 20 piece (1 gram) of high quality dro. First I took about 7 decent to big pulls of the purple haze and then took about 5 decent pulls of the dro and held it in for as long as I couldv'e. 5 minutes after my last pull I was all gigly and talkative but about 10 minutes after that, my head started spinning alot, my eyes were hardly half open, I started sweating on my forehead much, I couldn't sit in one place, my heart was pounding and I could feel it pounding really hard, I was breathing extremely heavely, I felt like I was gonna vomit, I got very hot and uncomfortable it felt like I had a 102-103 temperature, I couldn't walk straight. It all passed after a long sleep with an ac on blasted. I woke up the next morning with a small hangover.

5) There were also more then 5-10 times that I got cramps, nervous twitches, spasms and felt some pain throughout my body mostly as a beginner.

Does anyone know how to avoid these senarios of cramps, pain & panic attacks in the future, and if it does occure again how do I cope with it? Thank You in advance!

Whats the matta widya fella? I have been smoking since 1976. I started having panic attcks in 96. whwn i first got them i associated them with burning but it was all in my head. read up on flight or fright http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fight-or-flight_response
and panic attacks and you'll find that 1, you won't die & with simple breathing i have been able to overcome them.breathe slowly and as your inhaling fill your stomach, pushing it out from the diaprham. 2.also talk to your doctor about the symptoms because it's sounds like way more than i experienced. when you smoke your heart rate and blood pressure increases. these sometimes feel like a P A and will sometimes bring one on. Another word of advice if shoties is booze, DONT MIX!!! if your drunk, don't ever smoke. and if you do smoke when drinking, smoke then drink without burning anymore.

First of all, you're smoking too much. Smoking dope is not a competitive sport. Get high to enjoy activities, not to see how high you can get. If you've got really high quality dope, just smoke a little of it at a time. Give it fifteen minutes to kick in and smoke some more if you still feel like it.

Thanks for the advice Buzzby... You sound like a very educated indivudual throughout your posts! How much do you reccommend is a proper amount to smoke? How large of a pull, how many pulls? All body's are diferent but in general. Out of your own experiance what's the best way to take hits/pulls (Should I hold it in for a maximum amount of time, should I take a pull without exhaling and then take another pull and repeat until I can hold it? Other?)

Now that I think of it the only times I got panic attacks were when I smoke out of a blunt (cigar paper - phille's & dutches). Never do I remember getting panic attacks from smoking joints or ciggarete joints (I dont get as high). Does it have something to do with the cigar paper or is it just that it burns slower and I intake much more cannibis?

If I do get a panic attack again (hope not) are there any other ways to cope with it other than breathing slow? How can I avoid it?

There can be no general advice on this issue because the object is to smoke as much as makes you happy without smoking so much that it makes you uncomfortable. My recommendation is that you take a couple of tokes and then wait 10 - 15 minutes for the high to develop. At that point you can say not enough/just right/too much. If the answer is "not enough", take a couple more hits and wait 10 - 15 minutes to see where that takes you. Repeat as necessary.

I used to know people who smoked all day and didn't get very high. They're level of THC intake was such that they developed a high tolerance to its effects. This is another factor in "how much is enough".

Almost all of the THC in the smoke is absorbed by the lungs in the first 3 - 4 seconds. Holding any longer than that is basically a wast of time. It also provides more time for tar and other combustion byproducts to deposit in your lungs.

People get panic attacks without smoking anything. Others can smoke until they pass out without ever getting a panic attack. It's all very individual. In your case it sounds very much like your susceptibility is dose related. It's a lot like learning to swim. You start out in the shallow end of the pool and venture out into deeper waters as you gain confidence.

A lot of people find that going outside helps. I've found that splashing cold water on my face settles things down. You could try my patented mantra: "Everything is cool. These are just drug effects and they'll soon pass."

Tolerance. Back when I first started smoking and was an extremely heavy user (we're talking 7 grams per day, at least) my tolerance was so high that I barely even got high from smoking unless it was some really good stuff. I took a big break from smoking, got my tolerance down, and now I get high after a bowl

But isn't tolerance something that builds up after smoking many time or as you said you were a heavy smoker?... The person in that thread stated that he smoked a total of 4 grams with his friend and it was his 6th time smoking! Which means he had no tolerance or very little as opposed to you being an "extremely heavy smoker" as you stated?!?

Yes, tolerance builds up but in order to do that you have to smoke more and keep doing that. I was introduced to cannabis at a heavy rate to begin with, the friends that showed me it were already heavy smokers and it wasn't out of the ordinary for each person (we were a group of probably 5-7) to have a quarter on them all the time, so when we did get together everyone would roll up something. This is how I was introduced to smoking and that's how I became a heavy smoker until I took a break for about 6 months and started back up again, but very light.

Stop messing with the cannabis because you are smoking it as if your life depended on it!

You don't appear to be taking it as a medical need (which is where "tolerance" builds up) but for recreational purposes. That's cool but do you really want to have all those side effects for FUN?

Chillout -- calm down -- smoke less ...

And those "cigar papers" and blunts? They are made of TOBACCO...you are smoking a high grade of a very carcinogenic plant with a highly addicitive substance known as NICOTINE in it. Nicotine is a deadly pesticide besides other things and yes, can make you violently ill.

Will you "weak" next to your friends toking up like that has-been Snoop Dog? Oh yeah... Does that bother you? Then perhaps you aren't quite mature enough to enjoy cannabis and are smoking it perhaps as a form of rebellion or pseudo-counterculture experiment?

Cannabis has been around for a few millenium...it will still be around next year if you decide that smoking huge quantities and getting sick from it is really no fun at all...

Then again...it's just my opinion...

It's my favorite pesticide. I save my cigar butts all year to make nicotine tea for the gardening season. It's very effective but you have to spray once a week.

I've never understood why anyone would want to mix tobacco with marijuana. Besides being unhealthy and addictive, the nicotine knocks down the high.

Nice catch on the connection between the stomach cramps and the nicotine. I missed that.
