|  Why is medical marijuana so expensive? I've been reading a lot about medical marijuana dispensaries in California. The prices the stories quote sound exactly like prices being paid on the black market. Medical marijuana is not supposed to be grown for profit and it doesn't cost $400/oz to grow even the finest bud. Who's breaking the law? Where does all this money go? It seems outrageous to me that sick people should have to pay black market prices for their weed. It sounds like the dispensaries are just legal outlets for cutthroat drug dealers.
