| Hi my sister is 16 and she's anorexic. She sometimes goes for days without eating, and when she does it its only a tiny bit. I think she is 98 pounds and we havent taken her to the doctors to see if its official yet but we're pretty sure shes anorexic. when she smokes pot she gets 'munchies' and she can eat lots without puking or feeling sick but once she starts to come down from being high she'll feel sick and throw up (maby). she can eat a little bit and be finer but if she eats a full meal she cant hold it down (when shes stoned) is it okay for her to be smoking weed? its not going to make it worse is it? |

| Cannabis has been used to treat eating disorders actually, both overweight and underweight cases. It won't make it worse if that's what you're asking, it sounds like it's actually helping. Unforunately, she is under 18 though.

| yeah. okay, i'll tell my mom that and she'll probably be more okay with letting her do it as long as it doesnt interfere with her school work or anything. thx so much! Edit: once shes 18 will she be able to get a legal note from a doctor so she can smoke it without fear of being policed? |

| I personally think she is fine eating more after MJ. I haven't searched for scientific support to my personal thinking, but I believe MJ will definetely increase her appetite with no sideffects. She should however, take it slowly, i.e. no big eats at one time. Get used to MJ therapy, not over do.

| one more thing. if she ate her meals with weed in them (like regularily) do you think that would help at all? she'd be stoned all the time but I think it's something worth it so she can gain a little weight. |

| Anorexia nervosa can be fatal without treatment. Instead of fooling around with marijuana you should be demanding that your parents get her to a doctor immediately, if not sooner. Your sister could be suffering irreversible brain and organ damage.

| I wouldn't do that, she should get use to eat normally (I mean after some smoking). You can try though, but it sound a little bit weird. She is 16!!! My gosh. Take treasure of what it was said and I am really sorry, but your thread may be closed. And offcourse follow buzzby advice. |

| I thought Anorexia was when you coulden't eat and keep it down or something? You could ask your doctor about it (weed and anorexia) and see what he says. A doctor woulden't rat you to the police for smoking weed... Would they? xD I mean, everything is confidential, so even if your doing illigal things he shoulden't be allowed to tell ANYONE unless his life is being threatened or something.

| Going to the doctor has nothing to do with smoking marijuana. There'd be no reason to mention it. Standard treatment for anorexia nervosa does not include marijuana. If the standard treatment fails to alleviate the problem, then it's time to start thinking about trying marijuana to help restore her appetite. Anorexia nervosa is a serious psychiatric condition that can kill its victims. It involves a lot more than just not having an appetite. It revolves around hating your own body. |
