For those of you talking about things getting darker or brighter, whether the room or blinds or anything else....

The dilation of your pupils is not entirely involuntary. What I mean is, with practice you can figure out how to widen or constrict your pupils on purpose. When you hold your eyes very still where they're not moving to anything else, especially if it is a dim room, you can get it to where you (without moving your eyes) can constrict your pupils making the room appear even darker (since less light is getting through to your optic nerve) or widen them to make the room appear brighter.

I figured all this out sitting in church growing up as a kid, which had pretty poor lighting. After a couple of hours every Sunday being pretty bored but not allowed to act like you're bored, you start to dwell on some pretty mundane things....

Now, I can do it almost at will. Sometimes it takes me a few seconds before I can do it, but I can almost always manage to do it. It's very weird to see someone dilate their eyes and then undilate them, trust me =)

I used to pay attention to what you desccribe a lot when I was a kid, I would just look up at the sky and see how long I could chase them with my eyes.

I think I'll go look at the sky and see if I see any difference...
Nope.

Oh, but my guess about the floaters is, some filters probably rule those out as extraneous information, as buzzby said, and thus you can see them more easily now that you've started smoking and can control those filters. I think I used to notice them when I was little a lot, because we build a tolerance to extraneous information over time, and our filters get stronger and stronger.
And that is probably a major part of maturity... so when I was little I didn't have those filters, and I would just notice everything. Maybe that's part of the reason why we learn things so much faster at a young age, and why smoking in moderation can raise your IQ slightly.

But I dunno.

Yuri was right when we was talking about floaters and the vitreous gel. Its perfectly normal to have floaters and its not a big deal unless it really impairs your vision. As for looking at a light, TV, or computer, and still seeing it after you look away. There is something called persistance of vision. The photochemical reactions that take place in your eyes are not completely instant. If a picture flashes for a split second your eyes will still see if for a fraction of time when it really isn't there. This is actually exactly how motion picture works. If the pictures change at 24 frames per second it appears to be in constant motion because of persistance of vision. Each picture essentially blends together. And seeing how tvs, computers, the sky, and everything else you see is composed of light you are always going to have persistance of vision. Plus what do you expect looking directly at a flurescent light bulb? And um the floating eye. Buddy you were just stoned out of your mind.

Yeh,I've those damn things too. Had em since I was little, but now a lot more. Its comforting at least to know others experience this annoyance for lack of a better term.
