| A friend of mine had some weed she forgot about and left in her purse for like 2 weeks. We smoked some and while it was really strong and got me totally stoned, it also tasted nasty. It smelled skunky and it had a fertilizer/grass aftertaste that would have made me nauseous were it not for the nausea-healing effects of the herb itself. I couldn't hold the hits for long either. So here are my questions. 1) What causes the fertilizer taste? The weed itself was hydro, so could it mean that they didn't flush the water when it got close to harvesting? (I'm still learning about all this stuff... I might cross post this on hemp cultivation) 2) If there's fertilizer compounds still left within the weed, does this mean that it could potentially cause more damage to my lungs than regular marijuana would? 3) Should I advise my friend to dump the rest of what she has? |

| You hit the nail on the head basically. If it was grown indoors the grower probably didn't flush it properly and/or dry/cure it the right way, which can leave the bud with a very harsh, ferti' taste. I'm sure you could smoke the rest though, if it's a real concern, you could always cook with it.
