| Sometimes when i smoke a gram or maby a little less before i go to bed i wake up on the morning feeling like im a little short of breath and its a little hard to breath. Could this just be from mucus accumulating in my chest because it usually goes away after a little. And if i take my peak flow it is always a little lower when i feel this. thanks |

| It's probably just the smoke irritating the lining of your lungs. This is to be expected. We're not designed to breath smoke and our bodies don't especially like it. From past posts, you seem to worry a lot about your lungs. Why don't you start using a vaporizer and give them a break?

| i dont have enough money for a vaporizer and i like the whole aspect of smoking alot more than vaping if that makes sence. the reason i worry about my lungs is because i used to have mild asthma and i dont want it comming back or something. |

| If you're spending money for marijuana you have enough money to buy a vaporizer. You'll use half as much weed to achieve the same effect and it'll pay for itself in no time. The question is: do you like the aspect of smoking so much that you're willing to continue irritating your lungs? Smoking will irritate your lungs. It'll irritate anyone's lungs but especially the lungs of people who are naturally sensitive to smoke. |

| I thought that I once read something about how THC cleans alveoli, but I'm very skeptical of that, anyone hear something like that?

| That information about weed as a bronchiodilator is fascinating ... when I smoke, I nearly always need one or two puffs on my inhaler (standard albuterol) during the session to keep from feeling like my lungs are overly constricted -- though I'll bet this result is unique to asthmatics like myself, and it really is a dilator for normal people. Interestingly, since I've become a regular stoner, my usual lung capacity and breath control seems increased -- I'm a singer, so I notice these things. I wonder, is it the weed, or the practice of smoking it (holding hits in, etc.) that's causing the difference? My vocal range has actually been more steady and clear as well. Hmmm. Also, does anyone have any theories about different kinds of weed having different effects on the respiratory system? If one kind will be more beneficial to my lungs than another, I'll smoke it exclusively if I can. I smoke to relax, not to get high, so other psychological effects aren't as important to me as my voice. ![]()

| If you need to take an inhalor you aren't smoking like you should be. You said you hold in hits, don't do that, it's pointless. Just smoke like .2grams of marijuana and your lungs/throat will thank you ![]() |

| If you need to use an inhaler when you smoke, the problem is that your sensitivity to smoke overwhelms the bronchodilator effects. You should try using a vaporizer, which should open your lungs without irritating them. Quote:
