A while back i cut my finger pretty deep and damaged the tendons. Now they want to go in and repair it and for them to do this i have to be put under. Is it safe to be put under when there is THC in you system? or should i stop smoking now?

I wouldn't go in for surgery stoned, just because of the anxiety factor. Other than that, having marijuana in your system won't make any difference one way or the other.

i wasnt talking about going into the surgery stonded, i was just worried that in someway something would happen with the thc in my system (like if i smoke the night before) and the drug they used to put me under.

I just had a tonsilectomy on thursday abour 8 days ago

I stopped toking about 24 hours before my surgery, after being an all day every day toker of about 1 gram of high grade herbs.. Err.. I usually toke about 1 gram of high grade stuff per day...

I had 0 problems with anastetic.. he told me "I call this stuff mothers milk, because it's white like milk... you are going to feel it burn in your hand when I put it in..." I watched him inject it into the iv... my hand got really hot.. I looked up making sure to remember every sensation...

The nurse asked me if I wanted some water.. I looked at the clock.. it was about 2 hours later.. and I wasn't in the operating room anymore...

The anastesiologist and nurse asked me on multiple occasions (I don't lie to my Dr's and make sure they know I smoke herbs.. I drill it into their brains) and for fear of being refused/re-schedualed, as I had been told to quit 2 weeks prior to surgery, I lied and told them I had quit.

Needless to say.. to make a long story short... just don't go in stoned and you shoulden't have any worries

You wont have any THC in your system - it breaks down into different substances, otherwise you'd be high all the time that marijuana is in your system. Plus, marijuana is a very popular drug and if there was any real danger about having it in your system while under this anasthetic/undergoing whatever type of surgery it is then you would be asked if you smoke it and be warned of any dangers of smoking it and going under. If you are still concerned, however, just ask the doctor...better than taking the risk

I went to the dentist for some major teef pullin i was stoned when i went in. I already decided that i wanted to be put under. They used demorol and good night Irene. I woke up fine ...bleedin like a stuck pig but no after effects.

I think this answer covers it fine. If there was a real danger, the doctors would let us know not to smoke until after the surgery

Thats crazy I have to go in for a procedure like this and I dont wanna but if I get put to sleep it wouldnt be so bad.

I just had a Left Lumbar Laminectomy surgery done on my back and they asked if i was on Weed that day ,and i said,"no", but i did 12 hrs ago ,will i be okay and they said ,"no problem",heh heh, all went well for me also
