I'm allergic to seemingly every pollen under the sun; in the spring im miserable with stuffy, runny nose. I still manage to maintain a daily rate of smoking, which I think happens by one of three ways: 1) The burning of the pollen when smoked changes the physical and chemical structure of the pollen, so that your lungs treat it like any other carcinogen, or the allergy symptoms are merely reduced by the destroyed pollen. 2) The allergy symptoms are not significant enough for me to quit smoking. (I do experience a tighness of the throat when I am fiending out on a joint or bowl really quickly, similar to mild asthma symptoms) (My nose also gets clogged, not runny, but this could be a reaction to the smoke, not the pollen.) 3) I am not actually allergic to marijuana. I believe that smoking the pollen would destroy its allergic properties, because pollen is not one of the byproducts of combustion. This is a complete guess, it's quite possible that smoking an allergen could increase symptoms. EDIT: I got to rambling so much, I forgot to talk about you, mcrob! Anyhoo, what Im trying to say is that the tightness of the throat you are experiencing is probably similar to the tightness of the throat that I feel. I have always thought the tightness of the throat that I feel was just due to holding vast quantities of carcinogenic smoke in my lungs multiple times a day , the same reasons cigarette smokers have trouble with their lungs and throat. So your symptoms may not be caused by marijuana smoke, but all smoke! | ||

Hey man whats up What I meant earlier was when I first smoked I had difficulty swallowing, and I always had to swallow my spit like all the time crazy. Then a year and some out months later I started having throat tightness and I ignore it for a couple of weeks cause I thought it would go away but it got worst. Deep down for a good fact it couldnt be all in my head cause even when I dont think about the throat tightness, its still there. I can be doing fun things that takes my mind off it and its still there. What do you mean by all smoke? I mean yea I've smoked a cigeratte twice in my life. Personality what do you really think it is that could be the tightness in my throat? Me I personality think Im allergic to it, and because I wasnt able to treat my throat any sooner, I started getting throat tightness ![]()

What I mean by 'all' smoke is that the fact of the matter is, you are irritating your lungs. "In chronic bronchitis, exposure to tobacco smoke and other lung irritants over time can lead to inflammation in the airways that deliver air into the lungs (bronchial tubes). As a result, the airways produce more mucus than they would normally. Inflammation and extra mucus reduce air flow and cause coughing. Mucus production and inflammation over many years may lead to progressive and permanent lung damage." (© 1995-2005, Healthwise, Incorporated, P.O. Box 1989, Boise, ID 83701. All Rights Reserved. This information is not intended to replace the advice of a doctor.) Smoke hits your bronchi which irritates them and cause them to become inflammed. This results in a reduced air flow to your lungs, or a 'tightness' that people describe.

Yes. Allergic reactions tend to be more severe, i.e. throat closed -> hospital. Try eating a small dose, see what happens?

I'd definitely see a doctor, but a respiratory specialist, not an allergist or family doctor. As for the sysmptoms persisting for 6 months, well, a lot of respiratory problems are chronic, they last a long time and are very troublesome.

I don't know what they'll do, but I think you want to see a Pulmonologist. http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/spec/pulmonologist.htm

I didnt see anything on there that had anything too do with throat tightness under Pulmonologist? I thought you said I should see a respiratory specialist? Besides in the respiratory specialist part I saw Smoke inhalation, in the other one I didnt see anything that would suit my problem.
