Hello there again.... I got an allergy test done and I got the results in and it has been founded that Im allergic to grass and trees. So I was talking to the allergist and was asking him if I am allergic to marijuana and he said yes. But my question is if weed is some sort of plant, how can I be allergic? Could it be some sort of grass? But yeah I am allergic to grass and trees and he told me to stay away from them. Please reply back

| It is quite possible to be allergic to marijuana. I was for a period of several years during which I didn't smoke. Eventually I outgrew it. Whether or not you are allergic to marijuana remains to be seen. Your doctor was either telling you the truth or he was trying to discourage you from smoking. Do you get allergy symptoms when you smoke and are not in contact with any other allergens? This is not rocket science.

Oh my gosh..... Real sorry to hear that man. I hope he gets better if he hasnt already. My question that I wish to ask. I was talking with another friend who smokes enough weed in his sparetime. He was telling me that weed is not grass, its plants. Now when I went to get the allergy test I asked the doctor if I will be tested to see if Im allergic to marijuana, but he was saying that he doesnt have the test sample but he was saying that if I was allergic to grass or trees then I would most likely be allergic to that as well. Apparently Im allergic to both then I asked him if I am officially allergic to weed and he said yes. He was then telling me no wonder why Im experiencing this throat tightness and the closing in the throat and that it couldnt all be in my head. Im going to call the doctor and ask him if the plants have anything to do with me being allergic. Cause if Im allergic to plants as well, then I guess I am allergic to weed as well. Another thing I wish to add. Its very weird when I first started when I was 18 , I had difficulties swallowing that I had the urge to swallow my own spit and it wouldnt feel exactly right when it lands on the bone in my throat. But then all of the sudden in march my throat felt like this. The doctor will now have to inject some needle into my arm once every week to a month.

Allergies can be very specific. You can be allergic to lawn grass but not to corn or wheat, which are also grasses. If you were allergic to "plants" you'd soon die of starvation. As I said in my last post, it's not hard to figure out if you're allergic to marijuana. When you're not experiencing any allergy symptoms, smoke some pot. If you get allergy symptoms then you are allergic to it. If your nose gets stuffed up and your throat starts to swell shut it's a pretty good bet that you have an allergy. It makes sense that you didn't experience allergy symptoms when you first started smoking. Allergies are a result of becoming sensitized to a substance such that your body treats it as a foreign object and raises an immune response. Allergy symptoms are the effects of that immune response. I smoked for several years before I developed an allergy.

No no, the first time I smoked it I had difficulty swallowing right away, and I ignored it for awhile cause I thought it would just go away but it didnt... It was like I had to keep on swallowing my own spit, it was just a feeling that I get a lot and Im still experiencing that, and it didnt feel to right when it went down. Yeah you know what I really think I am allergic, otherwise I wouldnt of gotten that experience from the first time I smoked it. My throat would of been fine and I wouldnt of stated in problems.

To answer Buzzby's question: When I smoke I was get difficulty swallowing and my throat wouldnt feel right. The first time I smoke I never had the throat tightness, it came few months later.. I wouldnt be around any trees, actually I was never around any trees when I smoked, neither grass. Plus I never ate anything that could trigger it.

I dont know man. My family doctor sent the allergist a note to see if Im allergic to weed. Plus I stopped smoking last November of 2004 and its August and Im still experiencing throat tightness. I was prescribed Alerus. Its 4 small lil pills. Now that its finished, it feels a tiny bit better but my throat still feels tight.
