Default eustachian tubes and ear surgery

hey everyone.. i am an everyday smoker and had chronic problems with my ears and have gone through many operations when i was younger... i have now recently got my tubes removed from my left ear and put into my right ear and was wondering if smoking could damage the ears or prolong the healing process??? the ear that the tube was removed from is in a little pain because there is a hole in the drum... any ideas???
