| I've smoked marijuana on and off, probably a total of 15 times but I still get insanely paranoid when I do it. I am not afraid of getting caught, I just think I'm going to die or something, like I'm going to have a heart attack (which is crazy I think). My heart starts racing and it just scares me even more. My head feels like it's being put in a vice and I feel a lot of pressure. It usually only happens if I'm alone and high, though a few times it has when I was with others. Sometimes I don't feel paranoid at all, I just feel great. As far as I know I don't have any health problems, I'm in average shape (5'10", 145 lb), though not very active. In your opinion, do you think this is just something in my head that's making me paranoid for no reason or there could be some sort of health issue and that I shouldn't smoke anymore? This might not be the right place to ask for advice, but I figured it was worth a shot. Thanks in advance. |

| Weee! I always used to be extreamly paranoid. But after a long while of smoking eventually I began not to care anymore... But then again, my paranoia was different than yours. I was so scared we would get caught, even though I knew that no one would smell the pot from my backyard. And even if they smelt it why would they take te time out of their days to look up the non-emergency police number in the phonebook, call it and embarass the shizzle out of themselves? XD I mean seriously. It's really something easy to overcome. I tried seeking help on the 420 boards, telling people sometimes of my situation and having them comfirm that I was just being paranoid, and tell me the the chances of me actually getting caught. I think that helped a lot. Anywho... Yeah. I dunno why I took the time to post this. XD An answer was already given. I guess I just felt I should help you out by telling you how I got over it... O.o

http://www.marijuana.com/420/showthread.php?t=31790 And speaking of paranoia, I remember when I first started smoking. I thought everyone knew I was high. If I saw someone on the phone I thought they were calling the police on me Ah, those were the days ![]() | |

| As much as I have the urge to smoke up again (becuase I do enjoy the feeling when I'm not freaking out over paranoia) but I am still afraid to do it again becuase something in my head keeps telling me "this could be a bad choice, maybe you'll die" -- which is completely rediculous in my opinion. Perhaps those American anti-drug campaigns are sticking in my head or something. I've been really good friends with my "hookup" since before we both started smoking, so I'll be giving him a call and we'll go from there. Paranoia seems to be a problem with me for everything though. I should have gotten a drivers license over a year ago and I didn't becuase of my fear to drive. For just about everything other thing being secluded in my room I can come up with some reason to fear it. I was diagnosed bipolar years ago but I don't think it really affects me anymore and I haven't taken medication for it in years. Maybe something else is coming out now. About three months ago I was having extremely bizarre and random paranoia "sessions" -- I suppose you can call them that. I'd be freaked out for hours, couldn't go to bed, couldn't stop crying and shaking. For days at a time I'd be afraid if I went to bed I'd never wake up. I'd check my pulse over and over -- more than 50 times a day. Eventually it went away. Before that I did change my diet drastically to lose weight and at the time I lost about 40 or so pounds (I was 204 pounds when I first started losing weight) and my diet was about the same for about six months. I have heard diet changes could cause all sorts of odd things, such as this, but I was eating the same for months. Eventually it just went away. I hope to report back a positive experience. |

| Paranoia by definition is a higher state of awareness. You are so aware of things, that it literally can scare you, or at least bother you. If you ever watch animals in the wild, they are almost constantly in this state of high awareness. You can use it to your advantage if you can harness the power and provide a direction for the outlet of it in a positive way. Think positive thoughts, no matter what. Realize the paranoia is helpful to you as it would be to an animal in the wild; who must keep on its toes because every second could bring about a life or death situation, in an instant, for them. This is a similar state of higher awareness you get, as long as you are a healthy individual. ( Read http://www.marijuana.com/420/showthread.php?t=31790 to help yourself determine that. ) Be aware that you are more than highly aware and try not to let it overwhelm you. If it does, remember it is for your own good, and will pass very soon enough. So take what you can from the experience. Plan for it. Work around it, just don't forget it is a good and natural part of it all. Your heightened senses (even of your inner body) can help draw focus if you practice. Make sure you always steer it towards good in the end, because you're in the driver's seat and can take it where you want to go. It's better than sitting on a couch, and feeling like you're locked in. Positivity...! To your health!! ![]() |
