| Three weeks or so ago, I started an oral antibiotic called Minocycline for my acne. I hadn't ever had any of the side effects: dizziness, lightheadedness, confusion, etc. Then, a week ago, I smoked weed for the first time in my life (I took maybe four good inhales out of the pipe). I definitely got high that time. I was very hot, I couldn't conentrate or talk to people, there was a heat behind my eyes, and it felt like there was something in my ears. I woke up the next morning disoriented, with difficulty focusing, and a general hazy feeling. I stopped the Minocycline immediately. I asked my friend what was in the weed, and he said there was nothing added to it. Now, a week later, I still feel a cloudy sensation in my skull and a slight loss of my equilibrium. I have difficulty focusing still. I also get pervasive headaches. I'm an eighteen year-old college freshman, and these are very difficult symptoms to have right now. Honestly, I'm worried that the pot gave me permanent brain damage or something. I just feel a little addled. I do, however, have what i can tell use of all my intellectual brain function, and i even played tennis last night. I think the best way to describe the sensation i have is depersonalization. Link here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derealisation Could the pot have interacted with the medicine to do this to me? I know that the effects of weed short term are only supposed to last 3 hours or so. My friend who said it's the placebo effect, and it's in my head. But I still feel worried, and I hope this goes away soon. I want to be myself again. Any ideas/comments? |

| 1) Marijuana does not cause brain damage. 2) None of marijuana's physiological effects last for a week. 3) Marijuana doesn't have any known interactions with antibiotics. I agree with your friend who says it's all in your head. Or it could be something completely unconnected to the bit of pot you smoked. If the problem persists you should go to Health Services and talk to a doctor. the symptoms you describe could be attributable to any number of things.

| i don't know about it lasting for a week... that definitely could be placebo. buzzby is the expert of course, so definitely listen to him. no brain damage, unless you were actually smoking plutonium. that was a joke. seriously though, i know the first time i got high it was definitely more intense... it gets better though... WAY better. and enjoy the first 3 months, because those are BY FAR the best (at least they were for me... the high lasted a lot longer)... ah, memories. as far as it "hanging over" until the next day, that also will go away. i started in college, and used to have trouble focusing the next day. it went away very quickly. maybe in say... week, week and a half, depending on how often you smoke. that was just me. after that, no hangover whatsoever, besides being stuffed from eating so much the night before. |
