Question Which strain for arthritis sufferer? Advice required...

Hi, I'm going to Amsterdam on monday with my mum who suffers from rheumatoid arthritis. I've been doing some research into which strains of marijuana/hash would be best suited to help her condition. So far nepalese temple balls are top of my list but I was wondering if anyone could recommend any other strains that could help? She's mainly looking for one with a good pain killing effect and anti-inflammatory properties that doesn't knock you sideways

Any advice on this would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

good pain killing effect and anti-inflammatory properties that doesn't knock you sideways

Every strain is anti-inflammatory; its just an inherent effect of marijuana. So far as getting a "good pain killing effect" without being "knocked sideways," I think you're out of luck. Those effects are one and the same. If your mother has never smoked pot, or hasn't for a large number of years, she's gonna get blasted. The differences in strain, at least in my understanding, are due to varying proportions of THC to CBN and CBD. More THC and you'll feel an energetic "high," more CBN and CBD and you'll feel sedated and "stoned." These effects seem to be reversed for some people, in my experience (i.e. I get high as kite off of a particular strain, but my friend gets couch-locked). Either way, if your mom tokes, she's going to be "knocked sideways." Its just what pot does.

Peace.

Question

Thanks for the reply Tokamak.

I understand that its hard to recommend a strain as it very much comes down to the individual. However I was under the impression that certain strains are more likely to offer the beneficial effects without the aforementioned 'couch-lock'. Perhaps an Indica/Sativa cross or a pure Indica would be worth trying first? As I'm relatively inexperienced myself any general advice would be appreciated.

I use NYCD x G13 or Jacks Cleaner x Grapefruit x G13 as my arthritis smoke. They kill the pain and there is enough sativa that I don't crash out.Be sure she stopps @ 2 tokes and wait 15 minutes before smoking more.Peace, Loran

Not really. Most people who use pot medicinally and frequently don't get high because they develop a tolerance to the euphoric and soporific effects while the painkilling effect continues to function.

Whose idea was that? Any experienced user knows that the more you smoke and the more frequently you smoke, the more it takes to get high.

I used to hang with people who smoked all day long and it hardly affected them. They were "in the business" and claimed that they had to keep up their tolerance so that they wouldn't be overly impressed with what someone was trying to sell them. I'd smoke a tenth as much as they did and get stoned on my ass because I wouldn't smoke until I'd gotten all my work done for the day.

On a recent trip with one of my stoner friends we ended up smoking several times a day. I found that the amount of weed I'd normally smoke once a day had almost no effect at all.

The article explains why. As you get more and more THC into your system the brain reduces the number of receptors available to interact with it. When you abstain for a while, those shut-down receptors get reactivated.

Phew. For a minute there I thought I would become dependant on more and more marijuana, because my brain structure was changing. As long as there is no permanent change in my brain, dats cool.
