| Of course it COULD be that you are simply increasing the amount of pressure on the healing site. When you smoke, your veins dilate and your heart pumps faster (increased heart beat). This would in turn be forcing fluid into some very tender areas of the knee -- an area rich with nerve endings -- that has just had surgery. I would suggest you apply the RICE technique used for any injured limb -- Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevate. Apply cold pack (covered in cotton to avoid "feeze burning" your skin) for at least 20 minutes out of every 60 as often as feasible for the first 3 days post surgery. And keep the knee in a relaxed bent position on a pillow when reclining. Keep us informed | |

| I have problems with my right shoulder and lower back. Speaking personally marijuana has never added to my pain, and at the very least numbs the problem area. |
