Default "Burnt Out"

Every time I smoke, especially when I get ripped late at night or I eat brownies or butter - I am EXTREMELY TIRED the next day. Its like I cant even think. Im basically a zombie until I can sleep it off. Thats why I cut down on my smoking a whole lot - I only do it about once a month now.

I guess this is the classic "burnt out" type hangover marijuana gives you. But what is really going on? And how can I avoid this so I won't feel dead the next day?

Well, the Brownies or butter could be upsetting your sugar levels... but, I've been a smoker for a very very very long time, and the only time I have suffered, was pigging out near bedtime on sweets.... That alone can give you a hang over, due to the sugar overload...

Just my thoughts.

i take vitamins, im pretty athletic, but the sleep thing might be part of the problem, although I get the same feeling sometimes during the day, just being tired and not able to think.

Yo,

Try "Fish Oil." I grew up with ADHD. When I grew up I decided I was tired of being put on an amphetamine to control it and started researching other methods. Turns out kids with ADHD have low levels of Omega-3s in their blood. Just take 1-2 capsules with each meal and in a few weeks, once those Omega-3s get regulated, you'll notice a huge dropoff in bud-related stupidity and lethargy. Plus, you might even improve from your baseline!

If you are vegan you might give hemp oil a try. It is also rich in Omega-3s. Also flax seeds, almonds, and walnuts, although these are made of "short chain" fatty acids and will take more to have a lasting effect than fish or hemp.

P.S...I prefer fish over hemp. I know hemp is cooler, and if you want to cook with some hemp, so much the better, but Fish Oil is cheaper and contains more readily available Omega-3s.

Newbies (people who just start smoking or smoke seldom) often complain of the HANGOVER... IMO it's partly cause u are getting used to it... before i became a real pothead i'd get them the next day after toking.... my friend actually quit because he didn't like the hangover effect and thought it was a good indication to stop... i kept stoning and suddenly he started up again, and then just didn't stop and smokes everyday... he's become more tolerant of it and doesn't have the hangover effect... i think it also helps because me and him toke everyday but no more then 2 or 3 bowls in a pipe or something... so we don't get STONED just blazed or high...

anyway nearly EVERY new stoner i know around here has complained about that BURNTOUT HUNGOVER effect so it's not just u...

BUT ur case does sound more extreme...

I think Tayler has it right. The fish oil thing sounds like it could definitely help with this, but from personal experience I think its only because you're a n00b to bud. When I first started smoking, I kid you not, I used to get an almost a two-day hangover. I felt straight up retarded until about 32+ hours or so after I got stoned. Thats more extreme than most people, but it did used to happen. I also react more strongly to mind-altering substances than the average person. Point is, after about six months or maybe a little longer I didn't get it at all. Nowadays I can feel completely normal after a few hours of not smoking. Just give it some time, live a healthy life and these symptoms should just wear off.

just a thought but maybe it is like an alcohol hangover, caused by dehydration. maybe try drinking more water as you are comming down or down a bunch before you go to sleep. just a thought, im no doctor though.

It could very well be the quality of the weed you are smoking. Others have mentioned that you may just need to get used to the weed, but for me it was the opposite...overtime as I smoked the highs became less "high" and more "stoney". When I gained access to KB and started smoking that the highs were much more enjoyable, and now I don't bother to smoke middies unless I'm in a social setting and that's what's being passed around. And I never smoke schwagg, free or not.

Sativa-heavy strands will give you a more heady, stimulated high, and indica-heavy strands are more relaxed, body highs. Neither will give you that burnt-out feeling (couch-lock) unless it's low quality weed that's high in CNB (I believe that's the main culprit...could be wrong). Of course most dealers don't even know the strain of the weed they're selling you, let alone the chemical content. So all you can really do is ask around. Ask all the stoners if they know where the KB or "dro" is at, and just keep trying different dealers until you find a reliable one with some high quality bud.

I understand that in a lot of places it's hard or impossible to find the good stuff; that's one of the many consequences of prohibition. I know in DC it's extremely difficult to find KB, and the stuff you do find is overpriced and still nowhere near as good as the stuff available in, say, CA or BC. I have to travel to get my onion.
