Default Burning, numbing pain near heart while smoking

OK here is the scoop. Have a heart murmer. Nothing major. Recently had it checked out completly. Had a complete AKG, brought home the monitor for 2 days etc. Doc, says heart is 100% fine, has a slight murmer, or what they call a leaky valve which really doesnt sound great, but he says its a HEART murmer and nothing bad at all.

Whenever I smoke I enjoy it a LOT. Within the last few months, I have been smoking for about a year, I get a burning sensation, numbness, tightness under my heart or left side under my breast muscle.

It only happends when I smoke. I am a nervous person normally, and have a few depressing medical problems, but this was not a problem when I first started smoking.

Trying hard to get more strains that are 100% Indica's because I think the batches that contain a lot of Sativa, cause the symptons to worsen, including some anxiety.

Anyone else have the sore, burning numbness feeling right below there heart ONLY when smoking? It really is runing my buzz.

Never smoked a GOOD high quality 100% Indica, but plan to in the future. Will be nice to test myself and see how it makes me feel. I am hoping the Sativa's in the few hybrids I am smoking is causing the anxiety.

Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem. Feels almost like a numb heart burn sensation right below my heart.

Man this sucks I have it TONIGHT, ruining my buzz. Even after about 7 light beers, I still feel like crap. I only did 3 normal hits.

Default i had that once

I went to a party and i smoked out under the tropical sun for 2 hours my brain was cooking!! I had to walk to the place to smoke, when i came back i had the worst paranoia attack ever, i was sweating really cold and i was shaking, i felt like i was going to die right there i kept saying to my friends that this was like one of "those" parties that appear on the 7o' clock news how a bunch teens got drunk and stoned and somebody died there.

but i think it was the combo of the paranoia attack, stoned-ness, heat stroke and 3 beers that caused this to happen

but who knows?

Default Maybe its the Alochol

Maybe its all the beers mixed with the Weed.

Will try to smoke some heavy TRUE 100% Indica's without the beers.

Hi!

Just saw your post.

If this is occurring to you more when oyu are sitting at the computer or lying down, and seems to diminsih when you stand up or are reclining then it might more likely be a combination of swallowing smoke, as well as the pot giving you the munchies which is releasing stomache acids, adding to and combining with the high acid and gas you probably experience from your anxiety.

If you are overweight or sedentary, your abdominal and back muscles are more lax then they should be. Your stomach gets pushed up into your diphragm and under your heart. That's why the pain is referred to as "heart burn" and it can be intense.

Combine this with muscles sore from stress and you are definitely going to be uncomfortable.

Suggestions:

First see a doctor to make sure it's just this problem. Have him/her refer you to someone who can prescribe some non-addicitive anti-anxiety medication or anti-depressant med (check out the medical threads here and you'll see a lot of us on these who share our stories).

Some simple things to do to relieve the problem:

Stand and stretch at least once an hour.

Make sure you are drinking at least 2 cups of water for every cup of coffee or caffeinated soda drink. No problem with caffeine but you have to give your body 2x as much straight water

Eat 6 meals a day. 6 smaller meals spread over the day. It will feel like youa re always eating. Youll finsih breakfast (oh a bagel & a slice of cheese as you drive to work get to work, sit down realize it's 10 and you have to eat another meal (maybe a turkey sandwhich)...then it's 12:30 and it's time to eat lunch*whatever).... 3pm? another meal to boost your sugar before the ride home (I don't know, popcorn and a Nutragrain Bar)... to eat dinner at 7 (Kitchen Helper Surprise)...and then a 1/2 cup of cereal and some milk before bed so your stomach has something in it over nite so the stomach acid has something to chew on!

Go for a walk either in the morning or the evening. Walk away from your house for 10 minutes, and then walk back.

Hope that helps and you are feeling better soon.

I anxiety attack. Read through this thread I am going to link to and join the conversation.

Thanks guys!

This is just what I've had happen to me twice (a coupla weeks ago, and then yesterday - which is why I went looking for information in the first place).

First, I was just normally, happily stoned. Probably had not much to eat, likely drunk too much coffee during the day, and both times tired after a day at work. Then came the first chest/abdominal pains, then suddenly a warm feeling of something moving, turning, ripping - I just can't describe it. A warm feeling spreading in the chest region and then some bubbling and then the real pain.

I think the condition also has some effect on blood circulation, as suddenly I felt very cold and dizzy, and had tremors like I've never felt before. All of this subsided eventually (mostly after the high had already worn off and I'd drank a lot of water).

In the morning I had sore muscles in my back and sides, and stomach was VERY irritable. Swallowing water felt funny.

Thank you, mamabudz and others! You probably saved me from a painful diet and even caffeine withdrawal symptoms

The most likely cause for all of this has been my stress lately, and that I haven't moved much after it got cold out there. Must eat better, starting today.

If the symptoms still come back after a couple of more weeks, maybe then it'll be a visit to the doctor for me. I'll keep you updated.

Cool

yea, I think it's all good but i agree with mamabuds, see a doctor like i did, just to reassure yourself that *nothing's* wrong. I also have a heart murmer, got an echocardiogram, and a regular EKG and everything was perfectly fine. These symptoms you're having are of anxiety in my opinion. anxiety attacks include chest pain, dizziness, cold sweat, trembling, and you can also get a false sense of "unreality", and, obviously, feelin like yer gonna die basically. it's perfectly normal, the doctor told me it feels like sh*t but is basically harmless. I've also read that marijuana can start to cause anxiety, on the *biochemical* level, meaning it just happens for no reason...as if you have an anxiety disorder. I actually used to be a raging hypochondriac, and I had FALSE SYMPTOMS of brain tumors, heart attacks, strokes, you name it. it's all in your head sometimes, literally.

Default Getting better

Could anxiety attacks cause the stomach to turn upside down, causing a horrible pulsating pain in the chest that only went away after drinking a lot of water and probably having gas erupt from both ends?

The first time, yes, I had some anxiety! The second time I knew the symptoms and was (luckily) in a comfortable environment, and I didn't feel anxious at all, just the pain / sickness in my chest and stomach area, and the tremors which mostly came if I tried to stand up. No fear of dying, no feelings of delirium or any of that.

I know what cannabis-induced anxiety feels like and it's nothing compared to what I felt.

Anyway, I've cut down the coffee again to a resonable level, practically given up candy (especially mints flavored with Sorbitol seem to cause serious problems with gases) and try to eat a little now and then. Seems to help. And I drink lots more water, both tap and mineral.

I've also heard of this happen to others, with the bubbling in stomach and chest, the heartburn and everything. I think it'd be good to have this in some sort of FAQ: cannabis helps in many kinds of pain, but it CAN worsen gastrointestinal problems!

And yes, I'll see a doctor if there's any turn to the worse. Now out I go for a healthy walk

Exclamation SIMILAR STORY TO MINE!

Hey! Yeah, I am having the EXACT same chest pain problem you are having. I also experience numbness. I've been experiencing it for 2 years now, and it looks like it won't go away. I've even had to give up the weed, cause the pain is just too intense, and smoking weed is no longer that good anymore. But yeah, please, stay in contact with me as we both share the same problem. I need to know what is going on here. Please mail me up at bsilk@sfu.ca

I really want to find out the answer to our problem
