Default Marijuana and the Appetite

Hey guys. I've been checking out this site for a while now, just browsing the forums and reading up on things, and I've got a question for you all. I did a quick search and didn't see anything that immediately answered what I have to ask, but my apologies if it has.

I've been smoking pretty regularly as of this semster. I pretty much smoke two or so times a day. I haven't had any adverse effects until this point, but I feel as though my pot smoking has seriously effected my eating habits.

Obviously, I eat more when I get the munchies. I'm all for that. My problem is, lately, when I'm not high I have absolutely no appetite. It's a little scary because I feel a sort of hunger, like when you've woken up in the morning and skip breakfast, but I have no will to eat. There can be food in front of me, and I'll have no desire to eat it. I can force it down sometimes, but I feel pretty sick to the stomach afterwards.

Is this a normal development? I've been told it is. My question is whether or not there's anything I can do about it beyond smoking less.

Anorexia is not uncommon upon discontinuation or reduction of marijuana use. I am not aware of the mechanism involved, however, since the appetite stimulation properties of cannabis is through actvation of the CB1 receptor, it is logical to theorize it is caused by reduced activation of the CB1 receptor. It usually subsides after a few days.
