hey all . . .

i was wondering, lately ive had kinda what id call a cold, but its not much more then a stuffy nose and cough

anyways, this isnt the problem

i run 5-6 miles 3 times a week, and tuesday nights is usually one of the times ill do this. so, i began the afternoon around 4 o'clock with 2 packed down bowls of resin out of a glass handpipe. ever since that session a few days ago ive been really coughing up phlem(sp?) and im kinda wondering what side effects smoking resin will have on one's long term health.

i dont plan on doing it anymore (not because of this recent session either) . . . but itd be a heads-up if someone could find some info or just tell it like it is, cuz i dont want some of my friends venturing too far into this scraping of bowls thing without someone warning them before hand, as a lot of them can be quite ignorant to the fact that there are consequences to every action.

yo i allways smoke weed, everyday, and the times i run out, i scrape, atleast once a week, i have never had ur problem, when im done smoking resin i get a little phlegm in my throat but it goes away in bout a half hour, its prolly just ur little cold thingy, when u sm0oke pot its just like smokeing resin, cuz the resin is in da weed

Resin has a higher tar:THC ratio so it isn't the healthiest thing for you, but as long as you don't just smoke resin, which I'm sure you don't because that's disgusting, you should be fine.

The resin in your pipe is "tar". It will coat the small hairlike structures of the internal structures of the lungs that form the pockets in which air is exchangeed to the blood stream through the tiny capillaries.

If you have ever tried to scrape or clean your pipe you will know how hard that stuff is to clean. Usually takes alchol or acetone (old fashioned nail polish remover) to clean your gunky piece. In your lungs, the gunky tarry resin is very difficult to flush out using your bodies defense system -- phlegm.

It will damage your lungs. A vaporizer is a better method, eating will cut out the lung invovlement, a water pipe or bong will help lessen some of the tarry resin but will not remove it completely.

No you wouldn't get hash oil... at least not REAL hash oil...

"resin" is Tar. plain and simple. Hash oil is made from unburned plant matter, and is the nectar of the gods.

Another problem with smoking resin is the fact that it is basically an oil. Hot oil burns, as I am sure everyone has experienced after having hot oil splattered on them while cooking. When you smoke resin it gets very hot, and stays hot as it travels into your lungs. As MamaB pointed out the body's natural defence to such an assault is phlegm production.
Water bongs are good to smoke the resin with since is cools the smoke… but Vapourizers are best IMO.
