| Hi people, I am new here and just wanted to relay my situation. I used to smoke weed until I moved to Arkansas in 1992 but quit due to the strict laws. In july 1988 i fell thru a hayloft suffering a compressive burst fracture of l-2 with paralysis, have undergone so many surgeries i cant count em all but am blessed to be able to walk, however i am disabled. I became addicted to opiates and benzos to control my pain and have been in recovery many times, all resulting in disaster. I started smoking again in june and have since not had any problems whatsoever with meds, have lost all will to gobble pills, even though i have had lorects for months. Its like i went back in habits to before i bacame addicted. I've tried so hard so many times to control my use of pills, that I gave up and tried suicide. Since I've started smoking again, it feels like i have my life back and am very grateful. Im not saying mm is a cure for addiction, just saying it worked for me without even trying much at all. |

| T1955, Welcome to the site. I also quit smoking years ago. 1982 to be exact and had no desire to smoke except on a rare occ. and then I just didn't anyways. My health has went severely bad over the years and the meds started rolling. 100mcg. fentynal patch, 8 oxys aday, 4 Soma, 4 clonozepam, and a couple of Valium, Other stuff for restless leg, You get the picture. I started smoking again at the advice of many of my friends who still do not toke. My meds at this point have been cut in half and I feel I got a chance to live. My daughter is getting her father back and my wife her best friend. It is a shame that years ago before my health got this bad that a doctor was not informed enough to reccomend MMJ. The more I learn about this plant the more amazed I am at what it can do if used responsibly. Just make sure not to swap one addiction for the other. Addiction is different than being physically dependent on a drug. Best of all to you. There is alot to learn for all of us. MedMan

| ty medicinal man, yes it is very amazing. I know what you mean by swapping addictions, but believe me, ive gone to na and aa for years and nothing has been as much as a blessing as mm has been for me. I just need a few tokes every now and then, have no desire to abuse, no desire to gobble pills and the like. It used to be so bad with me that if i had a script of anything controlled, it would be gone within a few days no matter how large the quantity. Now, if im hurting severely and mm and ibuprofin dosent take it away, i may take a lorcet. I can actually leave the bottle in the cabinet, take vitamins etc and just push it aside without any craving whatsoever! Its unbelievable. By the way, i watched imax, the history of marijuana, narrated by woody harrelson and learned a lot about how such a useful plant became "illegal" in the governments eyes. It is such a shame that such narrow minded people have lied and brainwashed society into thinking that it is harmful. I just hope i live to see the day when anyone can go into a store, anywhere and get it without fears and use it as they deem fit!! ![]() |

| Yeah man, welcome , and great story. It's always good to hear about the way pot has changed people's lives. It would be sweet if the lawmakers in this country would read some of them sometime.

| Those two stories are incredible and I wish more people of your experiences would get up in front of Congress (or be allowed to) to tell your stories. It is unfathomable that this government does not listen nor seem to care about the obvious and proven medicinal qualities of the herb. Thank you for your stories and my highest respects for what you have gone through and dealt with. |

| Hey Telecaster and MedicinalMan, Just wanted to congratulate you guys. I find that using herb helps me self reflect more and I think there are many psychological benefits to it. I feel it can really help me assess how my body feels and makes me aware of things that I'm not otherwise aware of. Keep up the great work and keep strong! |
