I have recently taken a new job which drug tests so, after 5+ years of smoking morning, noon, and night, I have given up the sweet sweet chiba. Tomorrow morning will mark the 12th straight day I've gone without the chief. I went from ultra heavy user of very strong marijuana to absolutely dry. Now, the simple fact that I could do this says that the drug itself isn't as addictive as other physically addictive drugs. Especially since I am sitting on 3 types of great weed and could enjoy it at any moment. That being said, I am OWNED. I want to smoke so so bad. I've been studying the withdrawal symptons of others and I seem to have another withdrawal symptom that I have yet to see mentioned anywhere. MY BRAIN IS TINGLING. It feels like I used that mint shampoo on the inside of my brain. My head is tingling and burning and has been off and on for days. Is this my receptors starving???? I am going to take my drug test next week. Then I am going to get back to chiefing. Please pray for me to pass this drug test. It will be disastrous if I fail. However, for those that say marijuana isn't addictive, well, you'll never convince me. I've been very glad to been able to tough it out these last 12 days but I don't know if I could have done it without a very strong motivational tool like this new job. Also curious if anyone else experience the tingling burning sensation in the brain that I call receptor starvation. Anyways, smoke a big chief for me. Pass or fail, I'm going to be chiefing like nobody's business after this test. Peace, Flystroke

How long have you been feeling this tingling/burning sensation? Since the day you quit or more recently? This might be a form of psychological withdrawal, because you've been smoking for 5 years and then all of a sudden your body is missing what it's gotten used to, but it should pass in due time. I would have recomended that you slowly smoke less and less marijuana to accustom your body to the lack of THC, before you suddenly quit, but I guess it's too late for that. Good Luck!

I would say it started 4-5 days after my last hit and I am still feeling it 12 days later. Its like a minty cool burning feeling. Like icy-hot on the brain. Once I take my test and smoke I'll be interested to see if it goes away right away. I'll post an update here later in the week. I've had lots of other withdrawal symptoms too. I am pretty irritated and angry. I've always been kind of a road rager but now I am 10,000x as bad. And nothing holds my interest. I don't want to play vid games, or read, or watch movies. I pretty much think about smoking every minute. I even have had a dream about smoking the chief. Some other crazy dreams too which I don't mind at all. Never realized that it had a grip on me like this. Oh the sweet sweet chiba. I'll be glad to be with that sweet mistress again soon. The upside is I've coughed up a ton of black **** over the last 12 days. At least if nothing else I'm cleaing out my lungs to some extent. Thanks guys, Flystroke

| It can be hard to quit. I've had to do it a few times and each time it gets much easier. This is the 4th or 5th time I've had to quit and I would say I have no urge at all to smoke. I'm looking forward to being able to do it again, but I'm not constantly thinking about it. Just know that the longer you go with out smoking, the easier it is to go without. Also make sure you check out the forum on drug testing here. You should specifically read this http://www.marijuana.com/420/showthread.php?t=29426. I'm sure you'll have a much better chance of passing if you follow those instructions. You seem to be quite a heavy smoker, so next time you are going to have a test I plan quitting for at least a month before hand. Good luck!

I think I passed. They said wait in lobby while the Recon (sp) test worked its magic and that it would take 5-7 minutes. She said she would come get me if she needed me to fill out more forms. Like 3 minutes later she came out and said that I could get out of there and she was all upbeat and positive. I assume this means I passed! <3 N2 and dilution strategies! Flystroke

I've had to quit myself....this is the third time in 11 years that i've had to....and so far i've got 6 weeks under my belt...minus the ONE hit that i did...which maybe i shouldn't have but eh screw it. However it had been 4 weeks since i quit though. The first 2 weeks seem to be the ***** of it all. I still WANT to smoke...but i don't feel the physical and psychological mind**** that i did the first 2 weeks. It did get better...and i know it'll be worth the wait and then some.

I hear you. My discomfort wasn't too bad for the 1st day. Days 2-12 were absolutely terrible. Now on day 16 and having just passed my test I still don't feel the urge to smoke. I'm really hungover and bloated from dilution so maybe that's part of it. I want my first smoke to be when I'm feeling good! After all, after 16 days, my ubergreens should knock me on my ass! GL to you on your test. I'm sure you'll be fine. Sounds like you've been pretty smart about it sans 1 puff. I smoked very heavily and took 16 days off and still passed (I hope!). Flystroke

I'm pregnant....so as much as a good job is a lot at stake...i've got the weight of losing my kids if i piss dirty when i deliver. However, my fiance REALLY thinks that (even though he's still insistent i quit just to be on the safe side) my doc won't even test me. Sure hope he doesn't test the baby's first crap....but he doesn't think he'll do that either. And yeah....i can totally understand ya wanting the first smoke to be done when ya feel good. For me...after just having a kid...that first smoke IS what will make me feel good. ![]()

Flystroke, I don't know what to make of the tingling sensation. You're probably back to smoking by now so congratulations. I'm actually in a phase of tryingto quit again for a while. I hear you about the dreams. Whenever I go about one week without the herb after smoking it frequently, I have the most kickass dreams in which I smoke and actually get high in the dream. It's scary how powerful a subconscious motivator weed can be in those first days... Anyway, I agree that physically marijuana withdrawl is relatively mild. I get a bit edgy for a day or two and have some loose stool a day or two, but that's it. But psychologically, it can definitely be addicting. Only for some though. Sometimes it's hard to admit but it can happen to the best of us. Wish me luck this time, it's for a good cause... ![]()
