Hello, this is my first post here, I'm a 18year old who's been smoking 5-10joints daily since 15. First year was only some bad hash, but it always got me high as fuck. Anyway, then I started puffin' superskunk daily, I loved it, gave me a buzz so good. Then one day I had a hardcore panic attack, with the heartbeat racing, palms sweating, legs shaking constantly, this lasted about 2hours. Ofcourse as everyone can understand, this freaked me out. So I took a 1week pause, then I blazed up some crystals of my skunk. 15 minutes into the buzz I had another panic attack, it felt like the reality just shrinked in, and again I started shaking, sweating, heart racing etc. Only difference is that this is 2months ago, ever since then I've had like 2-3 panic attacks daily, also sometimes it feels like nothing is real. My mind is thinking all these crazy thoughts, and I'm afraid of going schizophrenic. Know this sounds dumb, but how the fuck can one joint set off lik 200 panic attacks? After that joint I've only smoked like 5times, 3 of them I got hardcore panic attacks, the last 2 times I've been cool and mellowed out like usual. At random times I'm still getting DP/DR and panic attacks for no reason... Headaches too, my head feels so heavy during this attacks I can barely hold it up... Now, am I goin mentally ill(wouldn't that be triggerd 2millions joints ago if I was in the "dangerzone" of that)? Most of the time I'm somewhat normal, but my shorttermmemory is totally gone, I endup putting the cheese in the washing machine n shit while making food(don't ask:P). For som reason I've started to think a lot about the universe and shit, that can trigger a panic... Anyone else experienced something similar and recoverd? THANKS A LOT if someone got any tips/answers=)

Have you had any new stress factors in your life...entering a new college...being arrested...death in the family. marijuana can affect stress levels but after marijuana use has ceased the psycological effects go away. You should see a psychologist and speak about this

My mind is thinking all these crazy thoughts, and I'm afraid of going schizophrenic." let me tell you this, from reading you post i felt like i was reading somthing i wrote. as far as i can see. i am going through the same exact thing. except without the heaviness of the head and the leg shaking thing. but i get the panic attacks with sweating but cold sweats, heart races. and expescally where you said you think crazy thoughts and things arent real. since ive smoked and had a panic attack maybe 3 months ago everything seems very dreamy, like as if im in a dream, somtimes i cant tell if i am actully dreaming or if i am awake. it is very scary at times and expecsally when there is no way to figure out what is really going on in your mind as far as the racing thoughts go. i will tell you the way i cope with it. i like to think that i have dignosed myself with somthing i like to call an overactive imgaination which i have created of course now, this was most likely triggered from smoking pot so much and it let my imagintion go places it would of never gone before. for instance, i can now take a shower and just thinnk about things never ending. as you said with the universe. i have a big fear of aliens and being abducted i dont know why. but i always am thinking what the hell is out there. and the thought process never ends it just keeps going and going in all directions. so i mean just try and flow with these weird feelings, i do find they come and go through the day. but i havnt found a cure or why i feel like this. but most of the time it doesnt take over my life even thoguh it sometimes seems it does. but if you can deal with it try to. i have been for a while and yes it isnt the best part of my life. i could remeber being a kid and never thinking crap like i do now. but you cant go back in time and change that bad high you got. so i mean try just to control it if you can. good luck and get back to me with how you are doing i will do the same if you update me on your condition LATER MUCH

Thanks a lot for these answers. Smoke way too much, yeah I know, but it's so gooood ![]() But seriously I'll cut down now after cleaning my system first. Got this grow which is ready soon, can't turn that down ya know;D As far as new stress in my life, uhm, yeah, dad died few months ago, been arrested by cops twice in 1 year, and got a lot of bad shit in my mind... I never "progressed" this, I've just smoked more and more, so a breakdown is certain. About the weird thoughts, hah yeah alien obduction has been on my mind, read somewhere that theres this planet out there with some people blablabla who obduct 1person every hundred year, on a site while high after that that just stuck in my mind. And yea that "wtf is out there, what happens when I die" trigger panic attack sometimes... I can recall back when I was 5-6 years, I had same weird thoughts about universe, or I remember one thought very well who gave me the same feeling I'm getting these days just not that hardcore: "What happens when the sun burn out and all life in universe is gone" i remember that really freaked me out as a kid... I've been to a psychiatrist, they were like "yeah come to us once a week and talk" but I'm in the belief of needing to "forget" it. It seems like I'm feeding my "anxiety" like everytime I pay it a thought I give it a fat cheeseburger with fries, I need to starve this bitch to death. Think about it, if you start biting nails, and do that 2-3days in a row, it becomes a habbit. I think it's somewhat same with this shit, if I managed not to think about it for like 2-3weeks at all, I think I'd beat it... What you guys think? Feels good to know I'm not the only one with those weird thoughts, afraid of going schizophrenic, as my dad got diagnosed schizo, and it's supposed to run in family's, but I don't believe for a second he was. He was a heavy amphetamine/heroin/weed abuser and went through too much shit in his life, think he just had some hardcore breakdowns...no one else in my family got any mental illness. Thats the problem with psychiatry, it just guesses, diagnoses and feed you pills. I don't need no pill addiction upon this, feel me?

Also, I agree with Buzzby -- you smoke way too much. It sounds like you use marijuana as an escape from reality. This is a very bad habit to get into. Because you've been doing this for a while, you have probably developed a psychological dependence and it may not be easy to cut back on your intake. However, if you can manage to do so, I assure you that you will find the benefits well worth it.

SkuNkInMyBluNt Im just getting over something that sounds exactly like that. The day kinda feels like a dream, and when it hits you hard again you start to worry if you'll ever get over it. I threw up a couple times because of the anxiety. My head was heavy and the buzz was increadibly uncomfortable when it hit me, becuase you wannted it to just go away. My headaches were bad and trying to fall asleep was hell. The reason it triggerd me is becuase I smoked more potent stuff than I had before. The best Thing i could do for myself was just put on some movies that I had never seen before but wannted to. So it cought my intrest I could take my mind off it for a couple minutes at a time. Its been a little more than a week, and its almost totally gone, getting better each day. I havnt smoked anymore since then. But your symptoms sound exact to what I had, just wait it out.. Smoke a ciggerett, that helped me a little.

But i've managed it, I got fuckdup and started giving a total fuck, but I understood it didn't help. Weed is the only help.=) Me 2 i starting to get much better, its good to know more people experience this, thast the best selfhelp. how heavy your head feels? while these attacks occur it feels like someone is standing upon my head, pushing it down, similar to yoUJ? |

I think you're on the track of how to avoid panic attacks. It's very simple, but not at all easy. When you put your attention onto a thought, feeling, or image it supplies that item with energy, making it stronger. This can be good or bad, depending on the content of the item on which you're focused. The problem with thoughts, feeling, and images that are frightening or upsetting is that they activate a primitive part of the brain: the "fight or flight" response, i.e. when you're being attacked by a tiger it's very hard not to think about the tiger and how to get away from it. The more you focus on what's upsetting you the bigger and more powerful it becomes, because it is all in the realm of the mind. The trick is to break contact. Put your attention somewhere else, on something pleasant or neutral. When the negative thoughts, feelings, and images come floating up, don't allow them to grab your attention. Note them and let them go, going back to what you want to be focused on. That's all there is to it. Simple to describe but it takes a lot of practice to get it to work. Find a good primer on meditation and it will teach you how to consciously focus your attention.

I have worked in the ER for several years, and panic attacks can come in soo many different ways. I think your having something deeper, emotionally causing them not your Pot. Your smoking maybe masking your ability to process them since you are using such a high frequency/amount. I have a cure for panic attacks tho. You have to program your mind to think that it is nothing. And they are (very rarley can they amount to something serious such as a heart attck especially at your age) it is all mental. Once you trigger your response of no concern to them, your body will stop allowing them to occur. Finding out what is causing them will take serious focus and journaling or counseling. Counseling isn't for everyone, but it could be beneficial. Not sure why you are using your MJ (and not the point) but you may want to take it easy until you can get these under control. Hope you find something helpful and can get back to enjoying life!
