| I just realized that when days go wrong, there is weed. When something gets me down, or I want to block out a problem and focus on the good, there is weed. Basically I noticed I'm getting high more and more and am actually becoming dependant on it to be happy. I can't solve lifes problems the way it is. Is this gonna lead to long term depression for me? And are there people who think about weed as much as me? Maybe it's not healthy but I just realized, without weed I'm always up tight and it sorta keeps me in check. I don't get the so called withdrawl symptoms but I do know life could be better. Lemme know what u all think. thanx ![]() |

| Self-medication isn't the best thing for you to do. It does sound as if you are using weed to self-medicate depression. Or ADD.. or something else. Try a therapist. Can't hurt might help.

| Well man alls i can say is sounds like you have some demons you gotta struggle with first. If your unhappy, try making a change, it sounds hard but once you do it you never know what your capable of. Say theres a part of your personality you dont like, focus on setting that part of you straight, if you can do this you can probably work your way through anything. Life has many ups and downs, the ups are so great that we often lose sight of them when the downs happen, but if you stay down because your life is down you will miss the ride back to the up. See what im saying? Maybe your down just cause your down, and maybe if you look up you can be up too. Alls i know is pot can either hinder or heighten your surroundings. It can bring out everything you want it to bring out or it can take all of the things you dont want away, but it cant do either for too long, cause eventually your just gonna be out of pot, out of money, and still dealing with the same demons you were avoiding. My advice, find someone to talk to thats a little more professional than someone on these boards, not to say we cant give good advice, im just saying maybe you need someone who can help you in real life. | I can identify with self-medicating with weed. My life had turned upside down and I had been upset for so long, that I just didn't want to be in that dark place anymore. So I smoked non-stop to numb myself. I then decided to take a major step and actually change things because weed can numb you but it can't take away reality. You need to fix what it is that is making you sad or depressed and then smoking will turn into a great experience - like icing on the cake Trust me, I know it is not easy to confront those demons, but if you think you can lift the burden that seems to be weighing you down, then I suggest you try to do so. Getting high when you are ok with things in your life - you don't have to be extatic, just good - is the greatest thing. | I aint no psychiatrist or anything but, in my opinion if you were already uptight and weed is making you a better person keep it up. But if you are just becoming completely dependant on the way weed makes you feel, I think you need a break. This has happened to friends of mine in the past. And for some people (believe it or not) weed is not a good thing, it is just not made for certain people to exhume. I hope this made sence, peace, and Ihope you figure things out. | |

| I think another thing that would help miht be your attitude towards it. If you look at it like, well if **** happens I can get high, but still dealing with the situation. Every now and then I like to get really drunk just to blow off steam. Like if I had a rough week or something. Relieving stress is not a bad thing a long as you deal with the stress.

| its ok to your it to a degree to ease stress. but when you think about, just about all recreation is a way to get your mind off of life and stress altogether. i figure that weed is just like any other form of entertainment. it lets me sit down, forget about the stresses of life for a momment, and have fun.

| I know where'd you're coming from; my advice: see a therapist, they can be annyoing but they do help and can reccomend medication to solve to the problem. The increased use of marijuana to solve your problems is a downward spiral with little chance of coming back by yourself. Feel better! |

| I want to clarify that I did not say that smoking a lot to deal with your problems is good. I know no one is saying that that is what I implied, but I feel that it wasn't stated strongly enough. Blow off your steam, but don't over do it. Cutting down is a good idea because it will become a crutch after awhile. I don't consider smoking once a day all that much. Maybe a bowl before bed time to help you sleep and your thoughts wander. |
