Once a month is nothing. You will be fine. Even if you buy into the reefer madness that pot is worse than cigs smoking once a month or even once a week would be like smoking 6 packs of cigs a year if that. Thats nothing. In med school they said that on avg it takes 10-15 pack years of smoking to really raise your risk of disease significantly. That means a pack a day for 10 years. Good luck smoking that much MJ. If you are still worried just get a vaporizer. They are better for you and only about 100 bucks.

There have been no conclusive scientific studies that have shown marijuana to cause lung cancer. Furthermore, there have been a couple of recent studies that indicated people who smoked marijuana and tobacco had a lower incidence of lung cancer than people who smoked tobacco alone, and that people who smoked marijuana alone had a lower incidence of lung cancer than people who smoked nothing.

Needless to say, "the reports of marijuana's harmfulness have been greatly exaggerated."

That isn't to say that smoking (anything) isn't unhealthy. If you are prone to respiratory problems or diseases, smoking tobacco, marijuana, or anything else probably isn't a good idea. Marijuana is certainly less harmful to smoke than tobacco, however, for there rarely are any manmade chemicals on it. The only danger comes from inhaling combusted plant material -- it's no more unhealthy than breathing in wood smoke from a campfire, really. However if the health concerns ARE an issue for you (they would be for me if I had asthma or chronic bronchitis, for example), then there are alternative methods of using marijuana that are completely harmless, such as vaporizing or oral ingestion (eating).

There are a lot of lies and half-truths out there, and not just about marijuana but about many things, especially on TV and the internet. Information is your best ally, seek it out!

Here's a good place to start: http://www.marijuana.com/myths.php3 And marijuana helps a lot of people out that have asthma actually. Besides, no one said you have to smoke marijuana, you can eat it or vaporize it.

Smile not correct

hi, sorry to give you any worries, but the information above is not entirely correct. First of all i smoke it too, so im not here to warn you like my father sometimes does.
But just realize the truth.

Marijuana or whatever you call it, contains 3 times more teer than tabacco does. It is the 'teer' inside the smoke/burned tabbaco that can cause cancer. The active substance is benzopryeen.
Now to explain the danger.
Benzopryeen when, it enters your body, works as a chemical that induces damage (mutations) to your DNA. These induced 'errors' can be autorepaired by the cell, but sometimes it doesnt get repaired or repaired properly. Then the cell starts to grow at a abnormale speed and you can speek of 'cancer'. Mostely these cells wil autokill themselves inorder to get rid of the cancer, but even that can fail.

The catch of all this is the fact that even the lowest doze of benzopryeen can cause cancer. And everybody can get it. So the frequency of smoking only increases the number of mutations and thus the chance to get cancer. But someone who smoked one joint in his life is also possibly to get cancer by that one time.

Ofcourse people who are extra vulnerable to mutation or who have a bad health condition (cells wil function less effective) etc have a higher risk.

But yeah nevertheless i also do love smokin some good 'hollandse shit'

bye

ps. please dont mind my english

I suspect that you are referring to "tar" and "benzopyrene". Neither marijuana nor tobacco contain tar. This is a by-product of the incomplete combustion of almost any kind of plant material. Benzopyrene is a component of this tar. It forms during incomplete combustion at temperatures between 300º-600º C.

There has never been a credible study showing that smoking marijuana is a causative factor in lung cancer. In fact, there are some studies that show that smoking marijuana reduces the incidence of lung cancer. In a very large study it was found that marijuana smokers who don't smoke tobacco have a lower incidence of lung cancer than people who smoke nothing at all. Tobacco smokers who also smoke marijuana have a lower incidence of lung cancer than those who smoke only tobacco. This jibes with many animal studies which have shown that compounds in marijuana are cancer-protective and shrink tumors.

Of course, if you are at all worried about the health effects of smoking you can always eat marijuana or use a vaporizer.
