| Sorry if this has been covered already, i glanced through the "cannabis and the law" board and didn't see anything. *this was pulled from norml.org it's not a direct quote but here's where i got it from if you're interested http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group...m_view=medical * I n California it is legal to possess up to 8 oz dried marijuana, and/or 6 mature (or 12 immature) plants, provided that the person in question has expressed written or oral recomendation from a physician that marijuana use would be beneficial to their treatment. It does not limit what kind of treatment so tell me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming that's anything pretty much anything. So my question is, can this apply to patients under 18? what about with parental consent? My brother has anxiety, clinical depression, and a plethora of related issues (attention/focus problems due to anxiety, chronic pain, sleeping issues etc.) I have almost all the same issues and have found that for myself, smoking 3 or 4 times a week at night before I go to sleep not only helps me rest better, but the after glow helps me think more clearly and helped hugely when I was in therapy. I'd like my brother to have the option of using marijuana responsibly so that he can get through all these issues and make something of himself. So can anyone help? On an unrelated note (this will eventually get a full post but..) I'm planning to write an essay promoting the legalization of marijuana. Anyone out there with access to medical studies results, or any doctors/therapists/caretakers who can give me information would be fantastic. Also anyone who wants to help and/or contribute is welcome just message me. Happy toking |

| Here is a list of physicians: http://www.canorml.org/prop/215physicians.html And here is a list of clubs to purchase cannabis products: http://www.canorml.org/prop/cbclist.html The recommendation letter costs anywhere from $150-$200 Bring all your medical records with you. EDIT: If all you get is oral consent most clubs will decline you. They want hard proof, and they will also call your dr's office to confirm you. I dont know about the under 18 thing, Im a bit older, but a quick call to one of those Dr offices will answer all your questions. |

| Im sorry, what was the question then? Has your bro been to a normal dr for this before? Some sort of medical history will help a lot in the decision process. Some counties dont have an ID card program so you are stuck with driving around with that paper. Even though your are "legally" able to carry 8 oz. i wouldnt recommend doing that. Keep it under the legal limit and even if you get a possession ticket you can fight it in court. If you have over that limit, depending on the cop he may or may not arrest you. |

| Proposition 215 does not include any exclusions by age, which leads me to believe that medical marijuana would be available to minors with parental permission. That means that the state of California would have no problem. It does not exclude intervention by the DEA, as supported by Gonzales v. Raich.
