| I've smoked marijuana once every weekend for the past four weeks; I've only gotten high three of those times. Initially, I smoked dank or schwag (I can't remember), and the last two of those "rides" were from hash. Anyways, after the most recent session, I've had trouble gaining and maintaining an erection. Even "morning woods" are weaker than normal. My sperm is also much stickier than usual. I've done some research, and apparently, if left untreated for a few weeks/one month, THC can permanently replace neurotransmitters, including those that regulate the parasympathetic responses (there are some others that I can't remember) for erections. In other words, if one doesn't seek help for a month after smoking marijuana, he could have permanent ED and other problems. Now, I've heard many opinions and counteropinions on the effect of marijuana on fertility, but I've found surprisingly little positive information about its effects on erections. What should I do? Am I screwed even if I quit? I am an 18 year old male. About a month or so before my first time, I tried a dangerous penis enlargement process called "jelqing." Unaware of its dangers, I had erection problems and pain in my penis for a few days; when I researched it on the Internet, I learned to "forget my penis existed" (i.e. no masturbation) for a few weeks to a month, and its function pretty much returned to normal. Could this be related to my new problem? Could it have a combined effect with my recent marijuana use? If it is unrelated, how does this explain my unusually sticky sperm? Like I've said, I've been to many "marijuana myth" debunking sites and none of them addressed the issue of erectile dysfunction, only sperm motility, etc. I know this site is pro-marijuana, but I really need unbiased, apolitical opinions on my newfound problem; I am really scared and don't want to be permanently sexually impaired. Additionally, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to hear what you have to say on pot's effects on the reproductive system as a whole, either. I've also heard that THC can permanently replace other neurotransmitters relating to depression, anger, irritability, learning/information retention, attention span, etc. Thoughts regarding these claims would be helpful as well. Any help on this matter is extremely appreciated. Thanks for your time, guys! |

By the way I don't know if the "jelging" could cause it or not. I never had the need to use it. You need a DOCTOR not a MJ forum.PS I thought I would give you an answer. I don't think any of the other guys wanted their name under the heading "Erectile Dysfunction" ![]()

My take is that you are worrying far too much about your penis, your erections, and your sperm. Relax. I've been smoking for 39 years and never had a problem in that area. I'll have to ask my daughter if it made me infertile. ![]()

| Here is what I found: Case Study - Marijuana for impotence, ejaculation dysfunction and no sexual orgasm. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reader:01/05/2002> I am an 18 year old female who has a problem. Recently, (in the past month) my boyfriend, also 18, has not been able to have sex. We have always had a fullfilling sexlife, but recently, he was unable to get an erection. This upset him, and since then, when ever we try to have sex, he goes limp. This is very strange because he gets great erections during oral sex, just not during intercourse. What could be causing this? How can he get help? He also smoked a lot of pot in his younger years (for about 3 years). Can marijuana have any long lasting side effects on erections? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Lin: 01/06/2002> Yes! The neurotransmitter acetylcholine in his brain and nervous systems has been gradually taken over by marijuana chemicals. The brain's acetylcholine and parasympathetic nervous functions are responsible for sustaining erection during sex. When the marijuana's chemicals replaces acetylcholine in the nervous synapses, his brain and autonomonic nervous functions become disordered - no erection (parasympathetic 2nd neurotransmitter Nitric Oxide and dilator cGMP; sympathetic beta-receptors) and no orgasm (sympathetic) Once the marijuana's chemicals take over the interneurons or synapses, it is very difficult to kick it out of the brain and nervous systems. It will take 3-7 days for our ViaPal-hGH and Heat Tea formulas to correct the brain's and nervous functions for patients with any legal medication drugs, such as blood-pressure, heart, cholesterol, diabetes, birth control, and SSRIs antidepression drugs. Our formulas are effective in dealing with the side effects of the FDA medication drugs on health and sexual functions. However, it will take 2 or 3 months for our formulas to cleanse the liver and interneurons/synapses for the patients with street drugs such as heroin, marijuana, estacy, and so on. He needs our high-power ViaPal-hGH-E (3-011) or ViaPal-hGH-P (3-010) to help him deal with the side effects of the street drugs on his health and sexual functions. Otherwise, he will become fully impotent in few months. That is, when the parasympathetic nervous function to the penis is shut down by the brain due to the deficiency of neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the nervous synapses and interneurons , his penis will be dead forever. You cannot reach orgasm either due to the acetylcholine deficiency in the sympathetic ganglions and adrenal medulla, where acetylcholine helps link the sympathetic nervous functions for the release of norepinephrine and epinephrine that triggers orgasmic contraction in the pelvic contractive fibers. His seminal production and testicular functions will also be gradually shut down. Then, his ejaculation becomes less and less, and finally dried up. He will become fully impotent and ejaculate nothing. At that point, it will be too late for him to revive his sexual life. I know it seems like the guy is just trying to sell his medicine, but his advice on how to heal my penis post-jelqing worked and I've found other sources on the Internet that say the same thing! Is any of this true? |

I agree. You also. Need need need! To send some money... and if that don't work, you will need need need to send some more, because obiviously the case was MUCH worse than he thought. Get to a doctor like I said before. Sex is good and you are young and will miss out on a LOT of it. ![]()

| I said before that he was probably trying to sell his product, but I was just wondering if there is any medical truth to the other information in the articles... |

| First of all, you're not quoting any scientific study, but a commercial enterprise trying to sell herbal dietary supplements. Of course the supplement dealer is going to answer the question in a way that will promote his/her product(s). That's called salesmanship. It's also a sleazy sales tactic. You want to test the issue to see if it's the pot? Go a weekend without toking and see if you can get it up.... I can tell you from experience that it's not the pot. I'm a daily recreational smoker (as opposed to a medical user), I'm twice the age of the guy in the case study you referenced, and I have no problems with sexual function, regardless of whether I'm high or not. Now, there may be unique circumstances where an individual's existing physical and/or psychological issues are exaggerated due to smoking pot, sure. Everybody is unique. But the weed ain't the cause. |
