| I searched but didn't see anything on this, but what are the steps for getting medical mj and what can you get it for? Can you get it for depression instead of Prozac for example? I think I read Anorexia can get you medical mj? I'm in California so I think thats a pretty liberal state right? And, what are the odds a psychiatrist would prescribe it if I made an appointment to go see one and asked? edit: transfered from general discussion at 420.mj.com |

| First, medical marijuana isn't prescribed, it's recommended. Only drugs that are part of the US pharmacopeia can be prescribed. In order to get a doctor's recommendation you need to show a medical history of a problem that would qualify you for medical marijuana and, usually, evidence that you've pursued other courses of treatment and that they've been unsuccessful. Most doctors will not recommend medical marijuana, so you'd be best off to find a doctor who will and make an appointment. You'll find all the information you need on NORML's Medical Marijuana Patient page. From that page, here's a list of CA physicians who will recommend medical marijuana.
