Question Why Do I Like Chocolate?

Why do I like chocolate so much?
I cannot stop eating it sometimes.
Many find chocolate addictive, in a mild sense. Me too, Because it can make me feel so good, all over sometimes.
Chocolate contains a small amount of anadamide, the same substance that serves as an endogenous agonist at cannbinoid receptors in our brains. Now, it's very little, some people estimate having to eat literally hundreds of pounds of chocolate to get "high". Maybe I just really love chocolate cause it tastes so good and had other secret things in it besides anandamide.
I wonder if eating a lot of chocolate would help people who have a particularly hard time during marijuana withdrawel complexes.

This site from the BBC should help set things ...err...straight http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/hottopi...dictive2.shtml

Chocolate pot?
The same is true of anandamide, the current favourite candidate for a psychoactive chocolate ingredient. Anandamide is a neurotransmitter that targets the same brain structures as THC, the active ingredient in cannabis. But to make a substantial impact on the brain's own natural anandamide levels, experts estimate you would need to eat several kilos of chocolate!

Neuroscientist Daniele Piomelli suggests that chocolate works more indirectly to produce its 'high'. As well as anandamide itself, chocolate contains two chemicals known to slow the breakdown of anandamide. Chocolate might therefore work by prolonging the action of this natural stimulant in the brain. The animation below shows how this could work.

This suggests that eating chocolate before using cannabis might increase and/or prolong the high. MB - do you know how to write a research grant proposal?

Actually -- I do ... know how to write a grant proposal -- I learned from my days at the National Endowment for the Arts.

With my science background (my undergrad degree) I just might be able to figure out how to write a research proposal ...

I think our best bet though would be to do this on an International scale ...say Holland perhaps?

Now ...who wants to support the Mama while she's writing this proposal?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Well whenever and whereever, I fully agree. Research in this area would futher help the legalization process, by familiarizing the general public with it's usage, i.e making it not so taboo to use it.

P.S what are the chances of this research being done patrially ( if not completely ) in Africa ?

Does support mean eat chocolate, smoke weed, and tell you what happens? I'm in.
