| One of my good smoking friends recently fell down a set of stairs, and bumped his head while he was completely sober. He was in a coma for several days. He is now awake, he pretty much his old self except he gets really confused sometimes. They sent him to a brain trama center for rehab. He is thinking he will get out in about a month. When he gets out he wants to smoke with me. Should I smoke with him or should i try to persuade him to take a break for couple weeks. Does anyone know of any possible negetive effects of smoking after a brain trama. 40oz | |

| Probably wouldn't hurt him- weed doesn't permanently effect the brain, or kill brain cells. If they give him medication to stay on for a while though, I would recommend holding out, since the two could possibly interact. Mamabudz probably knows more about this... |

| Actually there are studies that show that THC and other cannabinoid (chemicals found only in cannabis) that protect and may heal brain injury an dprotect against trauma. While we are not physicians and cannot prescribe cannabis as a treatment, your friend might be interested to note that many o fthe leading hospitals use THC based products to treat stroke victims to limit the injury caused by free-radicals in the brain which are leading casue of traumatic brain damage. I would personally suggest that if he/she were to try the use of cannabinoids that they refrain from smoking if they are susceptible to coughing fits as the impact of the brain agaisnt the skull caused by sever coughing can be quite hard on a person recovering from a concussion. My own experiences with thsi situation -- following a sever car accident and concussio -- wer that the effects of the concussion were minimized to the almost disbelief of the docotrs. A friend who suffered from an over the counter medication induced stroke and brain clot also self medicated with ingested cannibis in the form of "pot brownies" and her docotrs are also mystified and surprosed that she sufferd no further severe effects of the stroke that should have bed ridden her for the remainder of her life due to paralysis. Good luck...go slow...and let us know how he/she's doing. It's murky water you are swimming in and all information would be helpful. | |
