how safe is inhailing butane fumes?

A recent concern of mine is inhailing butane fumes from lighters.
i just bought a glass pipe, and whenever i relight the bud i usually get a big hit of butaine fumes (its inevitable, you have to inhale them

) - how bad is this for me? - if it is a concern how do you think i should go about lighting the bud in the pipe without inhailing fumes

Light the lighter away from face and clothing.
Apply the flame to the bud until it glows
Remove flame
Inhale

==> No opportunity to inhale butane.

Inhaling butane is not healthy and should be avoided
