I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i need answers, so.....
My doctor wants to put me on an anti-depresent but before he can put me on that i have to take a mood stabalizer called Neuronton(spelling). I was just wondering if there are any possible hazards of taking this medication and smoking MJ together. If so, no way will i take it. I love MJ. Help apriciated.

Another point to keep in mind is that you will need to be clean for awhile so that the docotr can ascertain if the mmood stabilizer is effective.

Since pot is a euphorant, it will effect your mood albeit for a short period of time (a few hours) but still it will affect the evaluation of the effectiveness of the medication.

Your doctor probably already told you he may need you clean. This is the reason for it. You want to be prescribed the least amount of medication to stabilize your mood so take the net few weeks of medication testing as marijuana free as you can handle it.

You can check out drug interactions at a web page called www.drugchecker.com it's really easy. I don't think they have MJ as a drug listed, but you can put in Marinol and see what comes up. I'm on and off anti-depressants all the time. STAY AWAY FROM TRICYCLIC ANTIDEPRESSANTS!!! They DO interact with MJ and you will feel really f*cked up if you mix the 2. I've been on Prozac, Welbutrin and Effexor. They were all Okay for me, but you need to tell your Dr. so he knows THC is in your system. He'll be better able to help you too.

Just some personal advise, when your Dr. says DON"T miss a dose of your medicine, they mean it! I missed a few doses of Effexor last month and I had BAD withdrawls for like 2 weeks. It was HELL! I felt like a freakin' crack head! Now, I'm a little more cautious of what my Dr. suggests and I do my own research before I start.

I don't know about the whole thing.... i don't think that those medications are any good anyway. I just don't feel right about it. And besides, Marijuana is a great anti-depresent for me Anyways, thanx for the help and sugestions.

sorry if you already read what i previously wrote pardon my french but i feel like an ass. neuronton is a very good drug with low side affects in my opinion, i got it mixed up with one of the other ones i was on. and unfortunately smoking weed isnt the best when your trying to stabilize your moods. its hard to control the meds if you do. but i agree with everyone you must talk to your doc. about your use of weed. its for the best. and your parents dont have to find out (not sure how old you are cant remember if you said).

I take neuronton and effexor, and have recently been told that marijuana, mixed with medications, can cause irreversible damage to my brain. Can anyone please verify or reject this so I know?
