Default Medical Marijuana Club Card

hey everyone, long time toker, first time poster. I live in California (in the San Francisco Bay area) and am lucky enough to have a number of Medical Marijuana Distributing clubs near me. The problem is I dont know how to come up on a club card without having a close personal friend who is a physician. I have heard, however, that it really isnt that difficult to obtain one, so I was hoping that someone is out there who knows a little more about how it all works who could explain how they went about getting one.

Cool Welcome to the site!

You could call someone in your area from this list as well as reading through here.

Good luck.

Presumably you have a medical condition that falls within the guidelines of eligibility for a Medical Marijuana Card.
If so, you should obtain copies of your medical history from your Doctor's records. Find a physician on the list that Plainsman provided you -
http://www.canorml.org/prop/215physicians.html is excellent.

Call and make an appointment. Assuming you qualify the Doctor will issue you a 'Recommendation' with which you can get a City and/or a State card.

If you don't qualify then I would hope you leave well enough alone. It's been a very long haul to get to the point where we have active and positive Govt (State and Local) participation in getting medical marijuana to patients in need. Those that use this process to get marijuana for other purposes are putting a lot of seriously ill people and a long history of hard work at risk.
FYI - I happen to be a staunch advocate of legalizing marijuana. But, given the current state of affairs I don't support the misuse of Medical Marijuana Legislation as a means to get high.

Hope it works out for you...

And this is, IMHO, an abuse of the system.

We all feel stress. While MJ can help relieve stress and anxiety and help relax people, it is not a valid reason for MMJ, in my opinion. Chronic pain or nausea, glaucoma pressure, reduced appetite from chemotherapy or HIV/AIDS treatments... Those are reasons to get a medical card.

Luckily for those wanting MMJ recommended, it is the doctor's opinion that matters.

Lucky for those who want a free ride without a legitimate medical problem, it's often the doctor's desire to line his pockets that matters. It's unlucky for those of us who need medical marijuana and can't get it because our legislators point to the abuse of the system in other states as a reason for not allowing it.

Didn't see this poster say he wanted a free ride, just a bunch of folks assuming.

I don't see anyone assuming. I think that we are doing our best to be responsible and cover the bases. Isn't that what it's all about?
Trying to do the right thing. Trying our best to help and guide each other?
I can only speak for California where I have spent much of my life. It happens all the time. People I talk with day in and day our all too often cite stories, true or not, of friends or friends of friends who bullshit their way into getting a Medical Marijuana Card.
At the same time these folks I'm speaking with acknowledge that they might support legislation in favor of MMJ if it were not for the abuse they think is taking place.

It is a problem and if we, who spend a lot of time and energy attempting to overturn outdated mindsets and archaic legislation don't speak up with a word of caution when our gut feeling tells us to then we are not doing our job as responsible adults and we're not going to be successful in making sure that those who are hurting, sick and sometimes dying get the help they need and deserve...
