Sorry if this ends up being a bit long...but I'll get started.

I've been smoking for a few months now, and honestly it's usually just to get high and have fun =). But, it also helps my chronic back pain. A few years ago I got in a bad motocross accident, crushed one of my spinal discs and dislocated another. I have constant back pain, and mj definitely helps with it. Lately i've been smoking alot more casually just for the pain.

So, back to my question...Does anyone think this could be a viable condition for medical MJ in Alaska?

ps: I'm only 17, turning 18 July 1st. My mom would sign as a guardian or whatever.


edit: if I do attempt to get one, how would I go about doing this? I want to be as professional as possible so they take me seriously. Honestly, i've never set up an apointment on my own...Rarely have I ever been to a physician, it's usually just straight to the hospital after a crash :P. How would I go about finding a physician to talk to? Do I setup a meeting or what?

Now, I don't know bout other states, buit I know that you'd be a shoe-in for a medical MJ card in California.
If you find the right doctor in California, You can get a MMJ recommendation for just about any reason, legitimate or not, if you find the right doctor. (Note: That's not necessarily a good thing, but it is a fact.)

Thanks for the info and link Darque, helped alot. I'm seriously considering this now, only problem I have is actually getting a meeting and talking with a physician. Honestly, i'm not very social with people I don't know...And i'm sure that would make me seem kind of suspicious. But beside that, do I just call a doctor and make an apointment? Would I have to explain why i'm wanting to meet with him to a receptionist?


Also, since i'm considered a minor for a couple more months...Would my mother have to come in to talk to the doctor with me?


edit: If I do end up getting a recomendation, where do I go from there? Do I just stop by a pharmacy, show them my card, and tell them how much I need? Honestly have no clue :P

You would have to provide him with medical records documenting your need for medical marijuana. Chronic pain is a viable reason under Alaska's medical marijuana law. Then you would have to apply to the state's medical marijuana patient registry with your doctor's recommendation.

Marijuana is not a prescription drug. It can't legally be sold in pharmacies (or anywhere else). Under Alaska's medical marijuana law, you are protected from prosecution for possession of up to one ounce of marijuana or the cultivation of up to six plants. You can buy it on the black market or grow your own. Alaska has no provision for marijuana dispensaries or growers' co-ops.

LOL when i was 17 i was smoking chronic everyday one day i got into a car accident and the person who rear ended me lead me to go chiropractor/orthepedic for back threatment, along with the treatment iwas smoking marijuana and the for my weekly back/neck theraphy after the law suit and the doctor was done with theraphy and suggest or said that im better but you can still come for visit i still continued to smoke pot..... My back/neck still hurts maybe its cause of my lifestyle how i choose to eat/exercise or lack of that it maybe still hurts here and there and i still continue smoking



im smoking pot cause im just gettined stupid stoned/and chilled the fk out so stfu

Seems like you fit all the criteria, worst you could do imo is go see the doc and be honest about your request. You may get prescribed medications other than marijuana though. If you're gunnin' for a mmj recommendation though, tell him/her that's what you'd prefer because of the lack of side effects.
