This morning I woke in extreme pain. As everone knows on the board, I have a cronic medical problem that is not cureable, but at the same time not life threating.

Once before while smoking weed, I had an attack of extreme pain. I was very stoned, but was afraid to take a pain killer pecrocet with being stoned, so instead I suffered the whole time while I was stoned.

This morning I woke, and was in lots of pain. My condition is always it's worst upon getting up in the morning. I couldn't bare the pain so I took two pecrocet painkillers on a empty stomach with a large glass of water.

I was so angry that I felt so bad AGAIN, that I packed the bowl, to find out what it would be like to mix both pain killers and weed.

I took 3 medium sized hits, after ingesting 2 percocets about 25 mins earlier.

Well now as I type this I must tell you I am LOOPED out of mind, after about 40 mins. I can barely feel my finger tips hit the keys as I type.

WOW BE CAREFUL WHEN MIXING BOTH. I cant even get out of my chair, actually quite scary, and not really enjoying myself.

Smoking probably made your body digest and absorb the percocets faster than it normally would have, so they hit you pretty hard. And considering that you are supposed to eat a little something with percocets to preveant nausea, I'm not surprised with your experience. Just this week I took a percocet and then smoked(er...vaped, actually) and I noticed that it made the percocet take effect quicker. As long as you don't over-do it, the experience is pleasant. You should try it again, but just take one percocet. Or, after you take the percocet, wait for it to start to take effect before you smoke. Also, make sure you don't do it on an empty stomach.

I think JC hit the nail on the head.

WHen using pain medicine...

1) Eat sonething.. a piece of toast, a few crackers, piece of fruit.. Both for nausea, and so that the medicine doesn't absorb all at once, it can mix and is absorbed slightly slower.

2) Many people are prescribed "one or two pain pills every ___ hours as needed for pain."
Take one. Give it about 40 minutes to curb the pain. If you aren't getting adequate relief, then take the next one.

3) Familiarize your body and the drug. If it hits you in 30 minutes... Don't toke up until you know how you stand with the prescribed medicine.. hahaha if you take two pills and immediately smoke.. it will hit all at once and leave you crunched.

Percocet is one of those nice pain killers that has the added bonus of binding to your brain's synapses and sort of 'filtering' the electrical impulses that fire through them. For those of you that don't know what a synapse is, it's the parts of your brain that two electrical conduits or wires meet to exchange information. sort of like an X shaped wire joiner.

Well, percocet and D-THC-9 both effect the synapses in your brain. Thing is, THC also has the ability to slow them.

The words of comfortably numb come to mind, n'est ce pas?

dont be afraid of smoking with the percosets. just take less percosets while you smoke. you will be able to take less percosets and keep yourr tolerance low.

This is a response to the entire thread on Percocets & other pain meds.

First off, DO be concerned and aware of any oral (or other) meds you are taking while smoking! Marijuana is a MEDICINE and needs to be given the same respect as other "drugs" that you get from the pharmacist or over the counter!
The crap you ingest must be processed by your liver & stomach. Very hard on the organs! IE: Marinol took 1-2 hours to enter my system & it had to be "processed by my stomach & liver first". By then, I've taken a compazine for my nausea, pain pill for my joint pain, anti inflammatory, & maybe a sedative to get to sleep!
Pot can be used rapidly & more effectively than all of the above!
Although smoking pot still involves the internal organs, it provides immediate relief which I believe would prevent the unnecessary ingestion of a variety of pharmaceuticals. Just my 2 cents worth!

I just picked this thread to read, I have LOTS of questions and insight......here goes my story:
Back in Feb. I started having back pain, well actually it was my leg and butt cheek! Well everyone told me it was my siatica nerve. I went to a theraputic massuse, the chiropractor and my regular Doc.
This has led me to a specialist, several diagnostic procedures and LOTS of pain!
I have been smoking since I was 16, was smoking heavier at times, quit for years and started back about 2-3 years ago. LIFE made me do it! HA HA
ANYWAY my ?'s.......I am on Oxycontin, Oxycodone, Skelaxtin, Neurontin, Sonata, Paxil and the pill.
Am I slowly hurting myself when I sit and enjoy my ansestors medication?!.......
any responce, cept for the mean ones, I dont do mean, if you need to be mean dont let me hear from you!
love this site, i have lots of time and spend alot here!

Good to hear from you. Sorry you're having so much sciatica problems. I know it hurts like hell!
Does smoking seem to relieve your pain?
I read the meds you listed & in my limited (several surgeries & injuries) experience....What the hell are you thinking?!!!!!

That is a ****load of garbage for your liver to process! Not to mention the "vicodin" (oxy & hydro codones!) are very addicting! (synthetic opiates!)
I don't mean to be "mean"!

Not too familiar with "skelaxtin or sonata"...but my best guess is that one is a muscle relaxer & the other a sleep aid.
Neurotonin is for neurological symptoms & Paxil is an antidepressant.
Back to original ? Does smoking help your symptoms?...or is it too hard to tell being on a bunch of other stuff?
Please let me know cuz I care! I take zoloft & I smoke. I no longer need the muscle relaxers, anti-inflams, or pain pills.

I didnt think you were mean, i hope I didnt give the wrong impression. I am a very honest up front person and appreciate the same. Unfortunatly I have experienced (as I am sure we all have) the wrath of some peeps on other message boards.
I am not a judger, I can't, there is only ONE (in my belief) that can judge, nd that's much much later in my life! (actually the END of my life! LOL)
I have asked my specialist (whom by the way is world reknown for his research on spine pain) the last 2 times I have been to the office about the addiction of Oxy, Skelaxtin (which YES is a muscle relaxor) and Neurontin, (which yes again, is for the nerve ending pain I experience). His PA has assured me they know what they are doing and when it comes time to not have to have them anymore I will be fine. She explained the class 1 rateing that the pills have, but that I am under strict RX's, and that's why they asked me NOT to let anyone have them (OOPS!!!!LOL)
I have not told them I smoke pot, but they have run several blood tests, only thing they showed was I was low in testosteron, which I just read recently on one of these boards is one sign of pot in the blood. If they suspect or know, they haven't said anything to me.
My private life is my private life as far as I am concerned. I can't lie if they ask me, that may be the only way they find out. (if they ask)
As far as my liver, I feel that question is taken care of when I asked her about all the pills I am taking, "they know what they are doing" I am VERY very confident in this Dr. and his staff, have to be when its your body their messing with!
Just to let you know what is REALLy wrong with me; L3/4 Disc is torn all the way through, and the fluid that our body makes to cushion everything is leaking out. I was REALLy concerned until the PA told me that our body makes and replenishes that fluid. There are alot of peeps with torn discs that don't know it until SOME OTHER PAIN starts somewhere, and then IT COULD lead to the torn disce.
WELL I couldn't be so lucky, I also have L5 & S1 Facet Joint all messed up, THATS where the pain derived. Yes Lady, like you said, my sciatica, thought it was that too.
That was JUST the beginning of ALOT of **** they have found!
Just turned 40, and an MRI to the Right knee shows OesteoArthriatis, MRI to Left Elbow shows JUST tendonitis, thank God that wasnt any more.
Then of course the back ****.
I smoked since I was 16, stopped to have my babies and feed them, stopped again for about 9 years. Have begun again since a BIG LIFE CHANGE about 3 years ago.
I SMOKE AS MUCH AS I CAN NOW,,,,,,,,seems sad, but true, about the only way I can seem to do life with low amount of pain.
I asked if I could adjust my meds daily due to pain, the PA said yes, just dont stop all together. You can bet I won't do that, slept for 2days once after a painful procedure and BOY could I feel I was DT'ing!
There I have contributed LOTS!

All I can really say to this thread is be VERY careful when mixing pharms and marijuana. When you mix drugs they do one of two things, either they both work together a boost each other, like alcohol and sudafed (do NOT do that!) And this can sometimes lead to an O.D. of one of the two drugs, even though you injested a safe quantity. Although granted, I have never heard of pot causing a person to O.D. on another med.

Or they work against eachother, and you get no relief or reduced relief from the symptoms you are trying to treat with the pharm meds. In which case you should just flush your money down the toilet.

Be very careful when smoking pot and taking Pharm Meds. If you don't know what you are doing, it is best to not do it.
