Anyone know if its true that smoking a joint is equivalent to smoking a full pack of unfiltered ciggs? At 45yo I find myself recovering from a serious heart attack and am wondering if pot smoking will hamper my recovery or in fact cause additional cardiac problems? ANYONE???

as well as a lot of great people. So, You might want to avoid the "smoking" issue altogether by considering a Vaporizer instead of smoking. Here are two links on this site regarding vaporizers - http://www.marijuana.com/420/lounge/...ght=vaporizers http://420.marijuana.com/forumdisplay.php?f=141 That said here are two articles specific to your question - http://ccrmg.org/journal/05aut/nocancer.html http://420.marijuana.com/forumdisplay.php?f=141 .

No one thing is ever equivalent to another, unless you are comparing the same thing. In this case, it depends on weather you are referring to the amount of tars and such in the smoke produced by marijuana compared to tobacco, or the carcinogens, or anything else. Marijuana does not contain nearly as many carcinogens as tobacco, if any at all, because no one has ever gotten lung cancer from it. Some studies show that it does contain more combusted plant matter though, due to the unfiltered thicker smoke. For you, with a heart condition, the problem would be that THC increases heart rate. But nicotine constricts blood vessels, which wouldn't be good either. Marijuana won't cause cardiac problems, but it does put additional stress on your heart.

Anything makes your heart beat faster, walkin up some stairs., and if you keep your heart rate up, you burn fat and stay in shape, and kill virus in your blood. so it sounds like you should smoke weed and not blame weed for a heart attack. Weed does not cause heart attacks. or millions of people would be dead. Need to stop going throw fast food drive throws... buddy just blaze

It is my not-necessasrily-proven, but reasonablem belief that: 1. Smoking (not vaporizing) marijuana, whether it be via pipe, bong, one-hitter, joint, apple, introduces thousands of unknown chemical species into your respiratory tract and bloodstream, of which many are potentially carcinogenic or otherwise noxious in a way so as to induce a systemic inflammatory response. 2. Nicotine, though having effects on cardiovascular physiology, is not the sole reason tobacco smokers have heart attacks. The majority of it in fact comes from the years of non-nicotine combusted by-products (as above) that have been deposited into the body and caused progressive atherosclerosis and blood vessel-wall inflammation and plaque. Etc... 3. Therefore, smoking cannabis joints daily also releases a lot of post-combustion by-products. Many are probably different from those produced by burning tobacco, since they're different plants, but the idea is the same. Many are undesirable toxins or free radicals. 4. Which is why I agree with the suggestions to vaporize. Other than that, I would suggest keeping your cannabis use to a fair minimum, at least for the time being while your body is adusting to its new post-heart attack state. And sorry about your heart attack. May you never have another.

its comparing apples to oranges. joints would be unhealthy for the fact that the paper is made of tabbaco. so maybe look into cellutose papers. They are very clean, not made of tabbocoo, plus it looks really cool. Its a translucent, clear paper, and it rolls itself. Secondly , if your a pretty good smoker, then please do yourself a favor of the lifetime and look into a vape. Id suggest vaper warez. www.vaporcannon.com , or vapor bro's. You will never smoke anything else again. And youll save so much weed, and get high off so little youll be amazed. The high is even different too. Everyone who I have introduced to the vape, has been impressed, and blowed away by it.
