I recently got all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled. The oral surgeon gave me a prescription of codein (30mg) and acetaminophen (300mg) (also know as "Tylenol 3"). The pills didn't help enough for the pain, so I wanted weed. If you have had healthy teeth pulled then you know the very intense pain and swelling that occurs for 2-4 days after.

The problem was I didn't have any weed to smoke, just a pipe with some accumulated residue. I am used to smoking residue to get through dry spells. All I can say is thank god the residue helped enough over the last few days. The day after the removal of my teeth it helped the most. A few minutes after smoking, the pain quickly dissolved. I was finally able to consume some food because the pain from opening my mouth and chewing was tolerable (practically non-existent). Many argue (especially higher logic) that residue does not contain thc or can get you high. I defintely do not concur with this opinion. I smoke the residue by heating up my piece from the outside with a butane lighter. When a light vapor starts to emit, I inhale. This way I am avoiding re-combusting many harmful materials that are burned by torching or lighting the inside of the piece. The effect is similar to using a vaporizer, although I wasn't vaporizing fresh weed.

On a side note, I use weed for other pains and aches with great success. Whenever I have a bad stomach ache the weed helps in minutes. The only things I wouldn't recommend using weed to help are coughs and colds. The smoke irratates the sinuses and lungs resulting in a slower healing time. However, there is an exception to using weed under this condition. If you use a vaporizer or a double filtration bong, the tar and other chemicals in the smoke are reduced enough to make it a sufficient medicine that will make your cold much more bearable.

I hoped you gained some more knowlege of how usefull weed and residue can be. After this experience, I cant help but be even more pissed off at the government for denying weed's legitimate purpose as a pain reliever.
