| The last time I smoked it was some really good bud out of a bong. It was about my 5th or 6th time smoking. I got really stoned and started to have really intense close-eye hallucinations that were actually peices of dreams I'd had as a really little kid, some of the dreams I hadn't even remember til that experience. It was weird, like I had opened up a memory valve in my brain or something like that. I never thought that reliving experiences was characteristic of marijuana. I was wondering if this is a normal thing to happen when you smoke, and what exactly its doing inside my head. Thanks for any information. Peace. | |

| "Perceptions are heightened tonight, my mind unencumbered and slippery. I’m still so close to the wonder and sensations of the past. My thoughts are swimmy-silvery fountains of assorted memories, the novelty-generator of marijuana turning its freshness backwards into history. My past selves have awoken: their experiences aren’t distant; they happen again as I read and remember. The shimmering glaze on memory has opened up and let me back in for the night." from the essay Memories of the Moment by Elizabeth Amberg, available for reading at: http://www.marijuana-uses.com/examples/amberg.htm It appears to be a common effect. The reliving of old (forgotten) memories for me is one of the most pleasant aspects of smoking marijuana. Most nights I toke and lay in bed, thinking of long forgotten thoughts and dreams and they play for me, like an old projector behind my eye-lids. I see my childhood friends throwing rocks at me, and I see our explorations together of ivy-covered backyards, and the time we tied a rope to a tree only to have the branch snap under our weight and a red, vicious sap poured down upon our heads like blood. We screamed and stumbled down the hill in fright. Marijuana puts things in perspective bying bringing the future to the present, and the past forward to today. Often I wonder, are we not really walking backward into the future? I can see the past in front of me, but the future catches me unawares...

| When stoned, i sometimes feel links to and remember past events when i've been stoned. When i'm not stoned, i tend to forget these events. So, I guess i've had some of those effects, but nothing like remembering old dreams. |

| I definitely enjoy the 'reliving forgotten dreams/memories' aspect to some highs. I don't know a lot of other people who experience that particular aspect of being high... but a lot of my friends plug into video games or whatnot, and don't go looking for it. I like to coast through my thoughts with the clutch in... it isn't a unique experience though, since I do know some other people who get there. [damn, did any of that make sense?]

| You're lucky to be able to do that. It's like you're mind is a place full of stuff where you can run around and almost be a viewer of whats going on, and whats in there. There's no chance that i could do that, it's like i have to tell my mind what to think, you know? I can't go roaming through the streets of my thoughts and be entertained, i would just get bored because nothing would happen, and i would need some stimulation. Maybe it has to do with my (shallow?) personality, but when i'm high, i need something to do, some input- games, movies, talking(sometimes) watching, hearing...never browsing myself tho. I sometimes feel like maybe my rabbit hole isn't very deep at all. -just had to get some of that crap out- |

| well, you probably just have gotten more tolerant of smoking... i dont always get to the point where i can wander around through my mind, entertained, like you said. and it was one of my first couple times smoking.. i guess its just different with different poeple, though. | |

| I can, for one, confirm that marijuana makes other people remember very old dreams, too. I find it particularly enjoyable, and sometimes find the effect spilling over into my sober life; but, then again, I do smoke a lot... ![]() Quote:

| Actually, yes that does make sense. It reminds me not only of what is great fun to do while stoned, but also of something I used to do when I was very young, and I hadn't thought of it for a while. Maybe some people are more apt to this kind of self-contained entertainment. ![]() Quote:
