| i have been diagnosed with bipolar and for the past 3 years my doctor has been trying to regulate my moods and keep me "stable". it's worked SOME but the only thing that helps me sleep or stay calm is weed. My mom doesnt totally approve of me smoking, but its the only thing that works. MY mom and I would both feel better if i could do this legally but i dont know where i can find someone to perscribe it for me. if anyone knows anything about this i would appreciate the info. ![]() | |

| Jr. Member | Your state has a medical marijuana program - before you do anything else, please read the statues carefully, then speak to your personal physican, or the MD mental health professional who diagnosed you about prescribing for you. I'm not bi-polar, but I am manic [very similar to the up side of bi-polar disorder]. I have been very successfully using cannabis as a mood stabilizer, and to abort rages. I don't even have to smoke throughout the day - I get the effect I need just smoking in the evening after work, before bed. There is some research available that supports the use of cannabis for treating mania, and your physician should be able to obtain that on PubMed.
