Hey, I have athletic-induced asthma, and originally it was pretty bad. Running just a couple hundred yards would make it very hard for me to breathe. Without an inhaler, I would have to lie down, or else I might have passed out. Now I started taking some new medicine for the asthma, that helped a little, but after that I started smoking pot. Now I have stopped taking the other medicines, but stayed on pot. Now I rarely need an inhaler at all. I haven't gone to my doctor about whether or not my asthma has actually gotten better, but it definitely feels better. Now does anyone know if what I am feeling is common? Does pot help asthma??

i have exercise induced asthma as well, and i pretty much feel the same way you do if i don't use an inhaler. I've been smoking about 2 to 3 times a week for the past 2 months and haven't done any physical activity at all. Just two days ago I lifted weights after not having lifted for about 5 months(i used to be a heavy weightlifter for 3 years straight) and I was more tired after having done just a few sets than I have ever been before. I know i'm greatly out of shape, but I think that the weed contributed to this plus the exercise induced asthma, so I personally don't think that weed does help with asthma. But that's just me, it may be different for everyone. I really can't see how it would help though.

Well, marijuana is a bronchio-dilolater (I'm sure I misspelled that), so basically it opens it your lungs so that they get more air, which is what you want when you have asthma I suppose.

I do not know how this would balance with the fact that you are inhaling a lot of burning plant matter, but I say do it if it works. What if you get a little buzz then excersize and then see if you feel like you need your inhaler?

I have never tried exercising stoned, but that would be quite an experiment. I should try that next time I get high.

Well done! Yesireebob, cannabis relaxes the smooth muscles that line the bronchial tree. If you exercise when high, please have your inhaler handy in case something happens.
