I'm taking 2 Advil (200mg each) 3 times a day and I wonder if I can smoke?

This would actually be a question for your MD, or pharmacist, if one could count on them being well informed... I certainly have plenty of personal experience with taking over the counter painkillers and smoking pot, and I haven't personally noticed any ill effects thereby. I will note that the few studies on the subject do show dosage reduction for prescription narcotics like morphine in patients who also smoke pot; they need less of the morphine, and no longer need increasing amounts, as the concurrent use of cannabis in some way allows more effectively utilization of the morphine, or is in some way mildly synergistic, but self-titrating for dosage.

The analgesic effects of morphine increased by 500% with one smoked hit of marijuana and 1000% with two smoked hits.

holy hell! next time i have to take hydrocodone or something else like that for pain, i'll have to not smoke. i couldn't handle that much pain killing

couldn't that be useful in the medical field, say to save money on pain-killers, you could use 500% medication, smaller doses paired with easy-to-grow-and-produce-and-natural marijuana. yet another reason use of mj should be legal... boo yah. peace and happy tokity tokin!

Hmmm...I'm just wondering where you got this info about marijuana severely increasing the effectiveness of painkillers. I have been on about 2000 mg of Vicodin and taken multiple bong rips and not been too bad off -- I was pretty much just really stoned, no narcotic overdose or anything. Seems like I should have been more screwed up.

Not necessarily...

While marijuana will increase the effects of some other narcotics, it won't increase the effects of all narcotics ....

BTW...

Ibuprofen (the generic name for MOTRIN and ADVIL) can show a FALSE POSITIVE in a marijuana drug screening.

ALWAYS put down on your questionnaire of what drugs you are taking (when being drug tested) that you take Advil or Motrin or Ibuprofen... If you come back positive for marijuana but clean on all other illegals, they may just pass you through

Anyway, point is advil along with vitamin E and some other antioxidants were shown in vitro (in culture) to prevent the death of hippocampal cells (a type of brain cells) that were exposed to THC. I'd say everyone smoking up should pop an advil or two back a day. Prevent memory damage.
