i have just been prescribed a Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug (NSAID)... and was wondering if weed would have any adverse effects while using it.... i had it prescribed for a injury to my 4th vertabrae... the active ingredient is diclofenac potassium...

it has had some wierd effects since ive been taking it... i have not had a nightmare in several years, but last night i had about 5 and woke up totally exhausted... in the info it has nightmares/insomnia as a possible side effect.

i was thinking of toking up after i take it, and before i go to sleep, so i will just sleep like a rock and not have crazy ass nightmares all night...

my advice would be to consult a medical dictionary and check the cross section, if it has one, where they talk about combining drugs. good luck!

hmmm... something just dawned on me... i had a REALLY BAD high yesterday, perhaps this medication has something to do with it... if it can give me nightmares then it can probably mess with my head in other ways too...

NSAIDs can efect your stomach and cause stomache irritation (read: belly ache) and a belly ache can and will cause a nightmare. Take some antacid tablets before going to sleep.

Also, take your med with food or milk (probably says that on the bottle.

Also becasue your NSAID is reducing inflamation, you might be sleeping in a different position (even slightly) than normal...and that can effect your sleep patter too... Try getting a diffferent pillow, or try two if you usually use one, one if you usually use two...

It may take awhile for you to adjust.

Besides stomache irritation, another thing to be aware of is that NSAIDs will "thin" your blood, so make sure your dentist or surgeon knows you are taking an NSAID before any minor dentistry (like a tooth cleaning) or any surgical procedure. Keep a copy of your 'script with you in case of accidents so that you can tell a doctor or nurse what you are taking.

By the way, NSAIDs can be really strong ADVIL or MOTRIN or one of the other Non steroidal anti inflamatory drugs used to treat inflamation caused by many arthritic conditions, fibromyalgia, and also menstrual cramps.

It's one of my favorite facts that our friend the lowly cannabis is able to help those same conditions on different receptor sites that the NSAIDS do.

i dont actually need the pills when i have marijuana, as it is an even more effective painkiller than this damn prescription... so i pray that my dealings this weekend will yield a quarter of gods finest medicine

I was prescribed NSAIDs about 3 weeks back.

I took them twice, both times having horrible stomach aches and such, so I decided not to take them anymore.

Just use the green herb instead
