| Hey i really need some help some of you may have read my reply to the "Enough to scare me..." thread. I was sick last week with a cold, friday i started feeling better so i smoked with some friends. Later in the night i got hot flashes, cold sweats, heart was racing. for like an hour straight. I finally was so tired i passed out. Since then i have felt TERRIBLE. I live in constant agony, i dont know whats wrong with me my mind seems clouded, like i feel as if im sort of perma stoned or something. I heard that you can get these effects from weed but never believed in them. Ive lost the will to eat and my stomach feels sunken in no matter what i eat or drink. I feel like crap and my parents say all i have is a virus.Somehow i think its more then that but i cant say for sure maybe its all in my head. What i can say tho is ive never felt like this before, im tired and really fatigued 24/7, always have a dizzy type feeling and im so weak. I dont know what to do i went to the doctor and they did bloodwork thinking i had mono but it came up with nothing. I feel terrible and have had thoughts of suicide. I feel like im never gonna snap out of it. I dont know, i dont think its depression because ive been depressed before and it was nothing like this. Heres how its basically been, after friday night having the hot flashes etc i woke up on saturday pretty groggy, but not SOO bad, everyday i think ill feel better but i just feel like i have a 24 hour hang over. Please if anyone has any info on this help me, i havent been to school lately and i dont know what to do. I have smoked bud day in day out for a few years and i dont know what has happened to me. | |

| Jr. Member | Damn, man. That sounds really rough. Unfortunately I'm no doctor, so I can't help too much. However I have tripped out on weed before, and that isn't pleasant! However it passes within a hour at the most (in my personal experience anyway). So you much have some sort of virus too. Prehaps talk to your parents more and maybe the doctor could help treat the depression you're suffering from too! Best of luck and keep us informed dude! Peace.

| Sounds like withdrawl to me. (Pre-med major) Stop smoking for a little bit. Like maybe a couple of weeks. If it is withdrawl, syptoms will be getting progressively worse. The good news is, if you can stand it, stop smoking weed will cure you. What happened is prabably this...You got a bag of weed that was laced with something. If you smoked the entire bag, your mind got used to the substance and when you ran out of weed(that was laced) your mind couldn't not handle it. Just wait a few weeks and it should go away. Give it one month before you talk with parents or doctors. If it does not get better after the month, YOU SHOULD TELL someone what you were taking. Don't worry, or at least don't worry yet, your depression is not really depression and you will be feeling much better in a couple of weeks. Just get plenty of rest and try to eat and drink. I have studied withdrawl quite a bit and you WILL be fine. Hope that helps, sorry it had to happen to you, Good Luck | |

| Seasoned Activist | I am in no way a Dr. but have the time to research, and psychology is my specialty. I happen to have the DSM-IV, and was reading up on some of the stuff you said. Some of the symptoms I'm wondering about would be;
If any of one those or more seem to fit, although the marijuana, and depression really mess with this self diagnosis, it could be a "Breif Psychotic Disorder". Sounds nasty, but it states these usually last only a few days (More than 1 day, less than 1 month.) I'm probably way off, but thought I'd bring it up, as having some type of info on when it should go away, can sometimes help. (Especially if it is "in your head") Explain a little more in detail if you can. If you are having serious thoughts of suicide, you need to tell someone you can trust and talk about it. Even possibly your parents. There is no reason for someone to live a depressed life, when there are treatments and therapies available to help. I'm not saying you need to get on medication, but I know what it's like to be depressed. You are worth it, to try and change your perspective to a more positive one. The members here are a close knit family and we realy have sympathy for those of us having issues. Promise us you wont hurt yourself, and will get looked at if needed, or symptoms persist.

| Before we all freak out here let's review this sensibly: You had a "cold" or some illness and felt better on Friday so you partied with friends. You feel worse for it Saturday and Sunday and today The night you got out of bed feeling better and partied you felt hot and then had cold sweats, a 'racing' heart, fatigue and fell into a sleep. straight. You are feeling very tired and experiencing general malaise. You have been tested for for mono but the initial tests for mono-nucleosis have come back negative. You indicate you haven't been to school lately but do not indicate if this is due to your illness or other causes The situation is such that you are becoming depressed by your condition. You have been smoking marijuana for some length of time without complications of this sort. Your primary concern in this message is if marijuana has any factor on the way you feel. ----------------------------------------- Your physical system obviously ill. It is compromised (effected) by an illness or disease that needs to be treated. Most likely it is mono which is very common in your age group. Mono may not show up on a blood test in it's early stages as the "test" for mono actually tests various other functions of the body and taken in total the diagnosis is "mono". The cure for mono is rest Rest and more interminable REST which is a difficult thing for a young person. It is also the cure for "walking" or viral pneumonia which requires a similar treatment...rest Rest and more REST And the cure for other long term but not life threatening illnesses. The sweats and cold flashes and racing heart were symptoms of a low fever and body exhaustion...you pushed yourself too hard to go out on Friday night and paid for it Saturday and Sunday. As I said, REST is a difficult thing when you are young (it isn't that easy when you are older either) Did marijuana contribute to how you felt? Yes, probably did. You had smoke in your lungs to begin with making it harder to breath. Your body had to deal with the fact that you certainly were not in a resting state. Any other over the counter medications you took for your "cold" could have interacted and made you feel especially groggy (marijuana will increase the feelings As for feelings of depression, they too come with long term illnesses and it sounds like you have one. Suggestions: See your doctor again. Describe your symptoms to the best of your ability. And please do include the emotional feelings as they are a crucial part of your treatment. Until you see your doctor... BED REST.... ...and have a cookie ![]() Let us know how you are doing...we worry you know ![]() Hugz, Mama Budz | |

| Aside from voices - which are undesireble but not life-threatening symptoms - disorganization and a lack of ability to focus will most likely be present in persons suffering from psychosis. The ability to write detailed expressions of your feelings and percieved psychological state are encouraging signs. While you should see a doctor, I think the issue sounds like panic attacks: Quote:
These are also, however, symptoms of the flu and other sorts of viral infections. Has anybody else in your family ever had panic attacks or treatment for major depression? Panic attacks left untreated could go away -and they can take on a life of their own, which is a major drag. They decide when to pop up - even if you arent threatened at all. Talk to Doctor.

| New Member | I work in emergency psychiatric intake, as well as case managment of ongoing cases. The advice you have been given in this forum is all plausible, and I couldn't have said any of it better myself. Knowing what I know about the System, I wouldn't mention your marijuana use to any psychiatrist. Some of them would incorporate that knowledge to create a proper diagnosis.... but 99% of them will latch onto your pot use as some sort of trigger. Whatever help is available to you, is available to you without you mentioning the pot use to your doctor. You are obviously afraid of pot having done something to your mind that you won't recover from. Sounds like there is something going on with you, but the marijuana use is most likely a correllation of what's happening, not a causation. Doc Zombie points out that tachycardia (rapid heart beat) can occur when smoking potent pot... and this is very true. Your symptoms are probably a result of a convergence of factors, and not just one factor. If the pot is the reason for your body's recent depression, then discontinuing pot will make it go away. I suspect you are suffering panic and/or depression. There's no way to know for sure over the 'net. But panic and depression are solveable problems for most people. For honest ways of addressing your issues, go search the site of Dr. Andrew Weil, a very respected medical doctor and author who is not part of the herd of sheep that so many doctors end up joining. www.askdrweil.com |

| Member | hot flashes=fever coming on becuase of virus feeling crappy in the stomache fatigued tired all the time the like=flue like symptoms just sounds like your sick dude....try not to freak out about it... you were sick with the flu smoked alot of bud your heart rate got pumpin fever started goin paranoiya kicked in and let me tell you something...i have had a paranoiya bout last me 3 days long just from smoking a fat bowl of pot acompanied by some bud butter and crackers. i wasn't high the next day, but the paranoiya stayed with me...i think marijuana some how triggers extra paranoya stuff in your head, but sometimes we magnify it with thoughts of the like you talk about and then the paranoya continues fueld by our own thoughts....just stay kewl don't go blabbin about the pot use cuase that can't be what is doin it...your sick possibly paranoid just take it easy drink fluids chill out and don't smoke till you feel better, but its not the pot don't worry about it...pot can't make you crazy it doesn't permantly change anything... your just sick...if you realy think your depressed or anything you should try chaning everything about yourself you can before you decide a pill is the only thing that will alter the chemicals in your brain to your desire...becuase it is fact that pretty much everything responsible for our feelings is just chemical reactions in the brain and their reactions to recepters and the like...this is why people have hobbies and do the things they do and why many people smoke marijuana becuase it changes our mind set and allows us to gain new perspectives and feel different...if you want to be sad and freaked out your gunna be...but if you want to be kewl calm and happy...see what you need to change to do that...get lots of sleep stay active and do things that you like doing while maintaining responsibilities...its usualy not something like depression unless their is some deep rooted or unseen cause...i meen our bodies are so easily influenced the weather outside of our houses can dictate our general moods...their are PLENTY of things you can do to change how you feel before you need to turn to MAOI's and SSRI's which are alot more dangerous than pot will ever be...all these bull**** disorders...i say if you realy want to feel better you would have done everything possible before you decided only a docter can figure out whats wrong with you...and never tell a doc you smoke pot cuase then insurance companies will get ahold of that and ur ****ed...
