so i'm sitting here wondering about this. as an example, if i go to a friend to get some weed and he tells me it's the best stuff out there (when it's actually schwagg or something low), i pay a lot for it, etc, etc. Basically i'm under the impression that it actually is really good weed, and i have no doubt in my mind that it's good weed, what will happen when i smoke it?

i guess i want you to read this from a psychological standpoint. does anyone think the placebo effect exists with marijuana? i know studies are done all the time where they'll give half the subjects the real medication and the other half sugar pills, but they don't tell the subjects. they all think they're taking the real medicine, however, some of the people who take the sugar pill show signs of improvement. this says the placebo effect exists in their mind. theoretically, i could be given a tic tac (not knowing it's a tic tac) as an aspirin for a headache or something and my headache would go away because i'm basically curing myself subconciously; i thought i took an aspirin so i'm willing my body to be affected as an aspirin would affect me. sorry if i'm wording all this wrong and confusing people. as a side-story: back in highschool my friends and i got an empty beer can and filled it with rain water. we then gave it to an unsuspecting friend as a joke, but he drank the thing like a beer and never said anything. later, he kept acting like he was tipsy off of it and we thought he was just being as ass or something, but i think it had to do with the placebo effect. it would have been his first beer had it been real, so he didn't know. he didn't know what beer tasted like.

but back to the point. if someone smokes low-grade weed thinking it's really great stuff and has no reason for thinking it's otherwise, will the placebo effect exist? will that person make themself feel higher because they think they're smoking some expensive herb?

i think the placebo effect could exist with marijuana up to a point. obviously, different strains are going to give you the effects their only capable of, but i think some of it could exist in your mind as well.
