A week or so back, I was at a friend's house smoking bowls and something extremely befuddling happened. I entered the bathroom to check my eyes, and noticed that my left eye was dilated as it would be if I were tripping. It was only the left eye. For about an hour after I noticed it, it was dilated to the point where there was little or no pupil, then it slowly went away.
I know that the weed wasn't laced, becasue I bought a bag of the same stuff a day before.
My only explanation is that perhaps the eyedrops I used somehow reacted oddly with the eye that I wear a contact in, but it has never been an issue before.
Any ideas?

ok my theory is that most bathrooms have the light right above the mirror so if the light is on and you look in the mirror alot of light would hit the eye even if it does not seem to be very bright because of the reflection off of the mirror i have had this happen to me so try lookin in the mirror with just the light from the hallway on and then with the bathroom light on and compare the two reasults to see if this is the reason

and also it could just be in your mind ive found that if im afraid that a sack i got had something on it,and i start lookin at my eyes and gettin paranoid about it my eyes usually start to act funny but its allways just in my head

Dialation is enlarging of the pupil. There's a couple of reasons why this could have happened...

1) Interference with cranial nerve. I forget off the top of my head which nerve controls pupillary constriction/dialation. I think it's number 3, the oculomotor nerve, but dont quote me. I dont have a reference book handy. If it went away when the high wore off, it's nothing to worry about.

2) Stroke. If you had a stroke bad anough to make your pupil dialate, you'd also have other marked symptoms... like loss of vision in that eye, inability to speak.. use that side of the body, etc.. So you can rule that out.

3) Muscular relaxation. There's tiny muscles that relax and make the pupils dialate. They tighten for constriction. It's very possible that for some reason, (which I cant tell you without significant medical evaluation) one eye was affected with this and the other wasn't.

4) Underlying eye condition. If this continues to happen, get an Opthamologist exam (eye doctor) It could be a precursor to glaucoma, or other condition.

I have noticed this in myself and other people before. Few and far between, but it has happened to me. It's been nothing to worry about in my case.. Although last eye appiontment the doc told me I was building an astigmatism.

ok.. first off I put an extra "a" in dilation

2nd. the oculomotor nerve, cranial nerve #3 controls pupillary constriction/dilation. BUT it can be affected by a variety of other things... Levels of epinepherine and norepinepherine (fight or flight chemicals) that's all I'm gonna go into with that.

Bumke's pupil= Dilation of pupil due to psychic stimulus. As in LSD, Cannabaniods, and other opiates and psychoactive chemicals

Spastic Mydriasis= abnormal or pronounced dilation of pupil due to overactivity of dilator muscle of iris or sympathetic nerve suppplying that muscle. As in epi / norepi interactions..

And then there's the gool ol' generic response... Silly things can happen physiologically when you smoke. If it ain't broke, don't hurt, and don't affect the way your body acts, and if it goes away when the high does, don't worry bout it.

my pupils dilate when i smoke sometimes too...i think it's normal...

I don't really have to worry about that. My left pupil is really small compaired to my other one. But I was born like that. Some times when i have been smoking it makes it hard to focus out of my left eye. I dont remeber what the eye dr called it. But she said only like 20% of the population is like me.
