ok, i have just read through the last 20 pages of threads so i now this topic has been covered a few times but i need to bring it up again. also, this is going to be a long post, sorry i just tend to ramble a bit when i write.

here is my story:

it has been approximately 4 months since i have smoked pot. before i stopped smoking pot, i had been smoking for several years, and the last 7 or 8 months i was smoking everyday. i was used to smoking good quality weed and in decent quantities, i was definitely not a light weight smoker. i occasionally had some unpleasant effects (i.e anxiety) but they were always short lived, a few minutes and then they were gone. anyway, i took a 5 week vacation and went to europe to visit some friends. while staying in paris i was smoking every night with my friend there and i even took a weekend trip to amsterdam and smoked some of the great weed there. anyway, i flew back home and planned on staying in and going to bed early to try to prevent any jetlag. instead, my friend stopped by and persuaded me to go for a drive and smoke a joint with him. about 1 minute after smoking the joint i began to feel strange. i began to feel claustrophobic, and unable to concentrate. my friend was asking me questions about my vacation and i could not answer them, it is hard to describe, it felt almost as if it would take too much energy to try to engage in conversation with him. i convinced him to take me home immediately by telling him i felt slightly nauseous, which was true. when i got home i went straight to bed but when i layed down and closed my eyes my mind would seem to "swirl" off into strange thoughts, again very hard to describe. as well, my body became very tingly and my heart was racing a little bit. i tried as much as i could to relax and go to sleep but as i drifted closer to sleep, my mind would get more messed up. i really felt like i was going crazy. i decided to get out of bed and try drinking some juice (that usually helps me out if am too high). as i walked to the kitchen i felt like i might faint, and the floor seemed to sort of jump up at me. the juice didnt work so i sat down in front of the t.v with a blanket wrapped around me just sort of tripping out and contemplating going to the hospital. finally, about 4 hours after smoking the joint, i finally got to sleep. the next morning i woke up and still felt a tiny bit out of it but by the afternoon i was feeling fine again. all in all it was an absolutely horrible experience, very scary.
here is some more info: im pretty sure the weed was not laced because 2 other people smoked with me and they were fine. i did not smoke too much, in fact i only had a few hits. i am not using any medications and was not under the influence of any off topics. i was however extremely tired. i had been awake for probably almost 24 hours and got very little sleep the night before. i can see how this might have affected me.
anyway, i tried taking a few tiny hits off a joint 1 week later and i had i couldnt help but think about the bad trip and ended up having a bad time again, although not nearly as bad and it didnt last an unusually long time.
so, because of this experience i have not smoked pot for 4 months because i know that as soon as i begin to feel high i will freak myself out again and have a bad trip. i love mj though and would really like to start smoking again so my question is this:
does anyone have any good techniques for relaxing and controlling anxiety while high? im pretty confident that if i can get high and remain chilled out i will be able to get back in the groove and start smoking again. so if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
