| Has anyone ever tried doing breathing exercises 1-3 times daily while smoking pot? I quit for a couple months and got into all this health stuff, and I'm figuring if your lungs are in better shape, you can absorb more THC or enjoy marijuana at a higher level? Please reply with any experience, comments, or questions. Pep ![]()

| That's not a bad idea. I would like to find out if this works. I would imagine it would help in some way (maybe you could take bigger hits or something)...

| I would tend to think that any effects w/ regards to the whole smoking experience would be minimal, other than the fact that if you increased your lung capacity, you'd be able to take bigger drags, the same way you'd be able to breathe in more air normally... I guess that might get you stoned a little quicker, but even then, I doubt it would be a big enough difference to notice...

| You know I thought about the same thing not too long ago. I was watching a doco on deep sea divers, well you know the ones who hold their breath for like 5 mins? They were talking about breathing exercises and how the average adult takes pathetic breaths, and that the human lung has far more potential than what most of us make of it, and who can argue with someone who holds their breath for that long? It just got me thinking about smoking, doesn't it always? Now it might seem like i'm leading to something, but i'm not, hah. I'm just adding relevant comments (I guess).

| Well, there are quite a few out there. You can do something as simple as look on e-how.com to find a breathing exercise. The one I got from a Tony Robbins program which is his fundamental increase-your-lung-capacity/ get-your-lymph-system going exercise is inhale, hold, and exhale with a ratio of 1:4:2...for example, inhale for 7, hold for 28, exhale for 14. Exhaling longer is something you'll see in almost any breathing exercise. The holding is so that more oxygen can get in your blood and clean out your system. It also holds your lungs at that big of a capacity and helps them grow. Another lung exercise is lie down flat on your back with your legs bent like you're going to do situps. Then let your knees fall outward like the butterfly, but keep the soles of your feet together. You might want to rest your knees on a stack of blankets or pillows. Put both of your hands on your stomach and breathe through your nostrils so you feel your fingers rise and spread. do for as long is comfortable, if you need to, breathe with your mouth until your breath is caught up, then return to the nose. When you're done, stretch out your legs and relax for a while. It's said that this breathing exercises can increase lung capacity from the average of 428.5 cubic centimeters to 561.8! From 26.14 to 34.27 cubic inches! That's a lot more smoke! And it'll keep you from getting as tired after smoking the same amount. Pep ![]() |

| My friends call me "Iron Lungs" because I have had Asthma my entire life. If you know any one that has Asthma their lungs are strong. Why? Asthmatics sometimes have to breathe 2x - 3x more just to be able to absorb the typical amount of oxygen for a non-asthmatic. As a result you get a "workout" effect on your lugs, causing my lung muscles to work harder causing them to get stronger. Hence, "iron lungs" I can take a hardcore bong rip no problem... I seem to have no problem getting stoned off just 1 good rip. I can't tell the diffrence because I have had asthma all my life. I think this is a great idea! try it! |
